this file cannot be opened by the installed version of vegas pro

I've been working on a project for two weeks with VEGAS Pro 17 Steam edition. Then I installed VEGAS Pro 21(Non Steam edition) for trial but I did not open it then uninstalled vp21. All of my file's icons turned into the vp21 one but when I deleted they turned back. Nothing changed when I opened my file but 3 days later it warned me to save the file because I have low disk space (I had 15GB) when I reopened the file it said "this file cannot be opened by the installed version of vegas pro" but only with this file. I checked on the file it still said VEGAS Pro 17.0 (.veg).
Should I attach the veg file?

It probably did get saved in VEGAS Pro 21, and it says VEGAS Pro 17.0 because that's the application you have currently set to open .veg files.

If your project is called project.veg, you should have a file called project.veg.bak in the same location. Copy that file to something.veg and see if you can open it in VEGAS Pro 17.

If you saved in VEGAS Pro 21 more than once, then you are probably out of luck, and would have to reinstall VEGAS Pro 21 to access the project, or maybe ask someone to export a .edl file from VEGAS Pro 21 that you could use to import your basic cuts into VEGAS Pro 17.

If you save the veg file in a newer version of VEGAS you can no longer open it in the old version.

The icon just tells you which program is associated with VEG files in Windows.
