Too many versions make it like a subscription service?

Having a faux subscription system is potentially very dangerous. It's even possible the lagged GPU enhancements from GPU acceleration of rendering, to hardware encoding to hardware decoding, to GPU acceleration of mxf files in VP18 wasn't as you may think, something that needed to take 5 years, but a concerted effort to slow roll enhancements that will keep people buying each year.

Not saying that's why it took from VP14-18 for this to happen, but if it did, think of how many people have been alienated by the poor performance in the meantime, or how the new users that were exposed to Vegas decided the performance wasn't good enough. Such a ploy is guaranteeing the yearly subscriptions by doing this, but also driving people away. When I look at the following graph it makes me sad, it shows how VegasPro losts it's place in popular culture since VP14 release. although when loading this just then, I"m pleased to see a resurgence in VP interest starting in March this year.

@Former user and where did the graph come from?

That's google trends. I think it's only related to people putting 'vegas pro' into google search, and is a minor measure of how popular something is over time

+5 To the DOC!!! Thanks Derek!

Yeah, if more people would put the time in to actually "Create" something, than the constant...

...yeah, pretty sure most understand what would have followed.

And YOU, the consumer, have no one to blame about the purchase, but you, since you have to provide the necessary information and then push that BIG PURCHASE BUTTON! Oh No, Mr. Bill! They made me push it!🤑🙃

Well said and reasoned Dr Zen. I couldn't agree more. You've summed up my feelings about this really well.

Cheers from 'lock-down city Mark II', the capital of the glorious and most resplendent Democratic People's Republic of Victoria.
