tooltips in timeline?

I'm trying out Vegas 5 with a view to switching over from Premiere 6.5. One initial thing I miss is tooltips showing me the name of clips in the timeline as I hover over them. I know I can have the name display with "show active information in events" ticked, but a) I generally still have to zoom in to see the full name, and b) I don't like the way they obscure the picture. For now I am finding out the name by right-clicking on the clip and looking on the "take" menu but it's not fast.

Is there a way to implement this? If tooltips cannot be done, I would love the filename to appear somewhere on my screen when a clip is hovered over or selected.

doesn't looks like it. However, when I zoom in the active take name doesn't get bigger (i'm using V4). I've nver noticed them obscuring my thumbnails eighter. What res are you at (i'm at 1600x1200). However, you can make the thumbs bigger by simply grabbing the bottom of the track properties box (you know, the thing thathas the name, solo, mute, etc) and dragging it down. That will make less of the thumbnail obsecured.

Thanks for your reply. I'm on 1024, but will be back at 1600 x 1200 when my number 1 computer gets back from Sony next week.

The text does not get bigger when I zoom but if I zoom out (in terms of time) I can eventually see the whole names, but I'm often not working at that magnification. I know how to make the thumbs bigger but the active take names are always obscuring the top of the picture. Perhaps I'll get used to it.

Tooltips would be better and probably not too difficult to implement as a future option???
