Hi there,

I have purchased a new computer.

I have deregistered the old computer from my account and activated the new computer.

I have figured out how to transfer a lot of my other settings and presets.

But i cant figure out how to transfer my Audio Track FX presets. (Track Noise Gate, Track EQ, Track Compressor)

How can i do this, considering I am unable to now open my Vegas Pro on my old computer?

Though I could well be wrong, I am reasonably sure that Vegas Pro audio FX custom presets are held somewhere within Windows registry - so you don't need an active Vegas Pro to find them in the registry. Sorry, but I have no idea as to which registry folder/s they are held because my previous searches for exactly that were not successful.

In my experience, if you open a Vegas Pro project on a new computer or fresh Windows installation, the audio preset names won't be there but the original settings will still exist. What can then be done is to name the unamed preset on the new computer to your prefered preset name - but you'll still need to link that same setting to the renamed presets on other track level FX if so needed. The same goes for audio FX at event level.

With native Vegas Pro video FX presets, they are conveniently saved to a C\ drive Documents folder. It's a pity that the same doesn't also apply with audio FX presets.

Yeh, I've backed up the project properties through Registry Editor and transferred those settings to the new computer. But I so far do not know how to transfer my Audio Track FX presets or if or where in the Registry Editor they might be found.

Im pretty astounded at how convoluded and fragmented the whole backup and transfer process is to be honest. Its like Vegas didnt consider that someone might actually get a new computer or reset their same computer. Files all over the place, manually messing with the Registry Editor, and even then still all settings dont transfer over. Full settings profiles should be saved a vegas pro cloud somewhere.

I think that you may be referring about the process of how a lot of settings can be transferred from a smart phone to another smart phone - and yes I've done that a few times.

But I've not heard of any program/app transfer process which is able to transfer Windows registry data to a new computer with a separate and new Windows installation. If you know of any such program/app that can do that, please advise in detail.

Please consider about how a new Windows installation on a new computer could possibly know about the registry settings on another computer - unless that MS provided such a cloud resource for registry settings. To my mind, this is more of an MS issue than a Vegas issue.

A project's Fx chain should transfer correctly if the plug-in are installed on the new PC. Some of the plugs may not load though if the path is different. If so you should get an alert, VST presets are easy (copy/paste). Direct X presets are stored in the registry as are the toolbar layout and such I recall the relative location is 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE',
Keyboard shortcuts and Window layouts are in the (normally hidden) AppData system folder, those files you can copy/paste. (C:\Users\USER NAMEAppData\Roaming\VEGAS Pro\21.0)

Presets Manager seemed to do the trick. Thanks.
