Transition Separately

Anvil wrote on 7/5/2023, 8:17 AM

I would like to know if there is a way to add a transition separately on a new track that could include all my videos, because as you can see on the screen I work on several tracks and have a transition that would overlap on all of them without having to doing a fade would be a huge time saver

like the MOGRT files in PP

You could just render out the video you need with the fade in/fade out already in place and make sure that you render it to a format that supports alpha channel. Then you can just drop that video file anywhere you need it on the timeline.

If you want to fade to black, add a video track on top with a generated black over the transition area. Fade it in and out. It will cover all other videos.

Thanks for ideas ! But i'm looking for a way to make a smooth zoom transition

I can do it manually with sapphire ans adding keys but it take a long time to do

From your video, I am not sure how you can create a transition with a gap between the video events. I have no idea what MOGRT files are in PP because I don't use PP. In Vegas Pro, why not use one of the ripple options in VP to create your desired overlap between the video events and, using copy on the event with your chosen transition in place, select the events to which you want to add the transition and then R click, choosing 'Selectively Paste Event Attributes' and select the appropriate transition option/s. It may not be how PP does it, but this is an easy way in VP20 to do it on any number of highlighted events on one or any number of tracks.

But on Vegas

Here is a video extract of what I'm looking for on vegas, I don't like premier pro, any bug on it and I've been used to vegas for a long time so if there is an alternative it would be great.

so on the video, you can create/customize your transitions over the video in fact and that's what I'm looking for

Make sure you look at the description of the video.

You're talking about transitions based on Adobe adjustment layers.

But event level adjustment layers are not currently supported in Vegas.

So you can wait for Vegas 21 to see if that feature is available.

I've given up hope of this ever happening. 😔😔

You could do something like this

What poster is asking about is smart adjustment layers that can be loaded as presets, but that's not possible in Vegas

You could do something like this

This is not practical, if a user wants to add 100 adjustment layers to make 100 transitions like Premiere, Premiere only needs one track, but Vegas needs 100 adjustment tracks. This is very scary.

No, if the Event-Level adjustment layer is available in Vegas, this is not a problem at all. Just add the user-saved FX Package to the Event-Level adjustment layer.

So the OP's requirement is actually Event-Level adjustment layer. That is, allowing users to place any number of adjustment events (maybe 100, maybe 1000) on a track. Let's wait and see if Vegas 21 has such good news.

@m3lquixd Anything can happen.

It's a shame Transitions aren't a bit more like some of the Boris ones that don't need to be applied at the ends like a transition,

I can't find a Push one like the OP wants, this BCC Swish Pan on the adjustment layer can be keyframed but only goes up, down, left n right, not diagonal.

I put it all on it's own parent track to see if it could be isolated to just that P/C group,

Nested Timeline with fades/transitions one each end?

Former user wrote on 7/6/2023, 12:37 AM

@Grazie Hi, I tried nesting that seemed the obvious one & like that way but for me it crashes Vegas more than I'd like, There's not many posts on here about nesting, does it work well for most people?

Grazie wrote on 7/6/2023, 12:44 AM

@Former user - Thanks for the vote of confidence, that it could be a way. I’ve been using Nests, but will give it a go this morning and see if I too get crashing. I’m in the latest Build of VP20. If this is so, on my MONSTA!, then TeamVegas needs to know about it too.

@Former user - Has Nest crashing come up in the Forums recently?

Former user wrote on 7/6/2023, 1:08 AM

@Grazie 'Monster' is that a new PC you have there? 👍😁

Vegas can be a bit unpredictable for me, MP4s constant or variable perform n a similar manner, some days they're fine other days I get half a dozen crashes in a night, but it's normally because I'm playing with Boris effects & Mocha, so I've started to convert to ProRes which perform immensely better 👍😊

I very rarely see any posts about nesting, I really like it so dabble whenever poss & want to know more..,

I had it working for this post, I nested two groups of track events like in the OP's pic, then applied the transition to the two main timeline nested events. but like i say it seemed the obvious way so didn't mention it on this post because this is about trying to add a transition to multiple tracks in one go,
