Transitions are always buggy

Vegas21_user wrote on 10/6/2024, 7:01 PM

I am using a transition in specific way - I want my clip "A" to disappear. So I don't need clip "B".
Here is what it looks on a timeline:

In rendered movie I got a BLACK screen. So preview windows is lying to me.

Here is project file of my project: https://we.tl/t-jKFaxJ0BKz (expired in the next 7 days)

Depending on other things, Vegas doesn't always preview generated effects such as Transitions very well, due to the fact that they are hot yet files, just bits of data stored in your system memory, and thus very difficult for your CPU to process and view in realtime, even on the fastest machines.

Fortunately, Vegas already figured this out, about twenty years ago.

Select the video portion you wish to preview in realtime, and PreRender, using instructions to be found in your Vegas Help, the Tutorials section of this forum, and elsewhere on the internet.

That's it, it may be all you need to do.

Welcome to the discussions, and feel free to use the many resources available to you help with your basic questions.

Do you want me to render this fragment, then import again to my project, and then render final whole work?

No, highlighting a section of the timeline and pressing "Shift + b" can create a temporary ram preview.

You can also create a more permanent pre-render with shift + M though it has bugs at the moment in VP 22.

This would help with issues previewing transitions in real-time though not if there are bugs or problems in the final render.

Is this what you're after?

@Vegas21_user

No, you do not need to render a separate file in order to do a RAM PreRender.

Once you have read the resources I pointed you too, one of the first things you will find is that there are two types of PreRenders, one of which makes a file, and the other does not because it is stored in RAM.

Again, Good Luck!

Except that there is a known issue with prerender:

Confirmed further down the thread.
