Troubles Installing Vegas Pro on Macbook with Wine

Alexander- wrote on 3/10/2025, 6:09 PM

I'm currently trying to install Vegas Pro on my macbook using wine. I have used the program on my home windows desktop, but that is unavailable for me right now. At the very first page for the installer, it doesn't let me continue in the installation process. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Running this on an Apple M2 Macbook Pro through Wine and Rosetta2.

Has anyone ever gotten it to work for a Mac? I haven't recalled seeing such a case.

What if you just directly download the installers?

I've never entered the Apple Mac world but recall from years ago on this forum that Mac users were sometimes successful with installing Vegas Pro on their Mac computers by installing something called BootCamp (which installed Windows as a side OS - possibly by creating a partition) on their Mac computers. Whether that is possible with current Mac OSs or Windows 11 is unknown.

I have not heard of anyone successfully running VEGAS on a M series Mac...and this is not surprising considering how much VEGAS depends on the very low level parts of the x86 architecture and Windows framework. Intel based Macs worked quite well with VEGAS back in the day using Parallels or BootCamp.

@Alexander- Bootcamp was the only success i remember working in the past on some intel Macs.... Kinda doubtful you'll have much success with what you are doing now.
