Uninstall VP-19 on a Computer with VP-20 installed on the same computer
Uninstalling VP-19 has also resulted in DELETE in VEGAS Pro 20: - Windows Design - Toolbar Configuration - Time scale Toolbar settings - Names assigned to Audio Plugins (VST/...) - List of Preferred Transitions - Favorite Effects List - .../... (I had the preferences saved) but... this is of little use...
In short: VP-20 has been reset almost to the initial values... A DISASTER ! 😕
Why do you want to uninstall VP 19? - Many here have 4 or even more versions installed without the versions affecting each other (this topic has also been asked many times in this forum - use the search function). Do you have such small hard drives?
The question would not be: Why do you want to uninstall VP-19?. The question is: Why do I want to have other versions if the latest one (VP-20) is the best?
I have a habit of uninstalling everything I don't use. I have a lot of space on my SSDs, but I want to keep them "clean" of "useless" programs
The logical thing is that when a program is uninstalled, nothing is uninstalled that affects any other program, no matter how "similar" it may be...
I have solved this problem but it has taken me a long time to reconfigure VP-20 the way I want it, just the way he had
I have never seen uninstalling one version affecting another version in any way. Of course, I always just use the Windows uninstaller created when you install the application. If you manually deleted some registry entries or manually deleted folders on the hard drive, I can see some of that possibly happening.
Using a third-party uninstaller can delete shared data, but the default Windows uninstaller usually does not. Multiple versions of Vegas usually coexist w/o issue, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I have used (as I always do) BCUninstaller (free) maybe this is the reason for this error (!?) I have been using this uninstall software for a long time and have never had any problems...
But, well, it hasn't been anything "tragic"... and it's already solved.
I have been using Revo Uninstall for many moons. The only issue I even had was uninstalling a version of Sound Forge which deleted some shared data that was used with other versions of Sound Forge on the PC. But that was my error, I should have been more careful. Revo's scan modes have options on what leftover data to delete after the initial uninstall has finished. The free version of Revo Uninstall is adequate in most cases unless a forced uninstall is needed, which is in the Pro version.
After reading this thread and doing some backups, I took the plunge and uninstalled V19 using Windows Programs and Features - The standard uninstall method, (Win 10 latest).
I did not manually delete any files. So yes, there are still folders all the way back to V14 in C:\Program Files\VEGAS for example. That is fine for me.
All my V20 settings were retained with no issues at all.
