Unreadable design of events on timeline

Vegas21_user wrote on 4/22/2024, 12:46 AM

Why this software is so unreadable?
Seriously? In Vegas 21 a disabled event it's like 5% darker? I am working with Vegas and even don't know how to figuire which of my events are disabled/enabled.

Another rant thread?

If you are so experienced (since Vegas Pro 6), you should see that the settings you use are different. Go to options/preferences/Video als set the "thumbnails to show in video event" to "all", but not to "head" only.

In addition, you can switch in options/preferences/display the "interface type" to "medium" or "dark". What makes Vegas Pro 21 similar to your older version.

Maybe you have to accept, that you have to re-learn a lot of the software again, if you had a long break in using Vegas?

Yeah, I am experienced and I intentionally didn't want that opiton. I switched it off.
I don't have a long break. I work on Vegas everyday. But on the new version I work from a month.

Well you can use bullet points and put a lot of your own in a post!
[also some of these have already been implemented in VEGAS]

If you do not explore the options available, then you should not complain that it looks different to older versions. Then the problem are the unused possibilities. But that is up to you.

You're sure that the second screenshot is from Vegas13? Vegas13 didn't have a dark UI and also it didn't have an adjustment event (feature recently added in Vegas20).

A very good point. How can an adjustment event be shown in Vegas 13? Good catch.

I assume that @Vegas21_user mixed up his screenshots. First is VP13 and second is VP21...(thanks to @Former user)

Dexcon wrote on 4/22/2024, 8:32 AM

Taking that the image presented as being VP21 (the grey UI) is in fact VP13 and that the image presented as being VP13 (the dark UI with the adjustment event) is in fact VP21, then the OP's point of argument is destroyed because VP21 is providing the desired result in that the entire event is populated with the event image.

Edit: 3POINT got there first with the same point. Nonetheless, the mix up detsroys his original point as far as I can see.

One of the major differences between VP 13 and 21 is the fact we show more thumbnails in the event now compared to in the past. This can be changed in the preferences so that events show limited thumbnails again.

jetdv wrote on 4/22/2024, 8:33 AM

He just labeled them backwards... top is 13, bottom is 21.

The issue is that the "dim" is hidden behind the thumbnails. In 13, it's set to "head only" so you can really see the rest is dimmed. In 21 it's set to "All" so the thumbnails fill the entire area making it harder to see. If you zoom in really far on the timeline so the thumbnails don't take the entire area, you can see the background is dimmed.

My suggestion would be to change the thumbnails in 21 to "head only" so you can compare apples to apples.

What has your image got to do with changing the colour scheme?

Anyway the transition images aren't showing. Maybe you've altered something that is causing a problem so suggest you give your Vegas a "Factory reset". Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Vegas21_user wrote on 4/22/2024, 9:45 PM

I have to wait ant transition will be visible. I wanted only to show a different color scheme (I don't like it).

Just use the colour scheme you like...

RogerS wrote on 4/23/2024, 12:11 AM

I see the issue that it's not immediately obvious which one is dimmed.

@Yelandkeil How do you design this so it's easier to see which is disabled?

RogerS wrote on 4/23/2024, 1:56 AM

Thanks, that's helpful. I have never clicked the reverse event background box. I don't think I've ever locked an event, either.

Vegas21_user wrote on 4/23/2024, 7:08 PM

Thank you buddy! It's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks the events are a bit unclear.
