Uncheck legacy HEVC, too? What kind of .mov is it?

David-Powley wrote on 3/21/2021, 11:09 PM

I unchecked that as well.

RogerS wrote on 3/22/2021, 12:19 AM

So what kind of mov file is it? What settings did you shoot it with using the phone? If you don't know try https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Under help/driver updates, what is listed for your GPUs?

David-Powley wrote on 3/23/2021, 8:06 AM

video is 720p 30 fps

VEGASDerek wrote on 3/23/2021, 8:19 AM

We still need more detail on the media. "MOV" is a wrapper and doesn't not actually tell us the format of the media. As RogerS stated, we need a MediaInfo readout of the files you are having issues with.

Also, your GPU is far below what we officially support.

Uh oh, that's a graphics card from 2009. Can I ask what you CPU is? (is it from the same era?)

Here's how to use MediaInfo- you can paste detailed text right out of it:

@David-Powley Can u make a sample clip available for users to download and test in vp18, looking at the Mediainfo, it’s somewhat normal vfr phone media.

It loads without issue here (VP 18 482). It uses my Intel GPU to decode (well, barely any activity). I turned it off in file I/O and it still loaded.

If I enable legacy AVC decoding the video won't load at all.
Quicktime is disabled here.

I'd try resetting Vegas (hold down control-shift on startup until it asks you to clear the cache). You'll lose custom settings but not extensions, Fx, or projects.

You win the prize! It worked! I know know something new, how to reset Vegas! And, I just finished ordering a new machine that should be able to handle Vegas better!

Many Thanks!!!

Yay, I win a prize! Perhaps mark my response as the solution, too.

Glad it worked for you- resetting can resolve some tricky issues where settings get messed up. I think your new machine will do much better than this one. Enjoy.

Well, the saga continues. I saved the project with the video file in the timeline and when I opened up the project it says the video file is offline. I try to add it to the timeline again and have the same issue. I can "reset" vegas and get the video to load into the timeline however when I save the project, close and reopen it, I get the same issue.

RogerS wrote on 3/29/2021, 5:13 AM

Hmm, that's beyond my experience with Vegas. The file works but Vegas "loses" it between sessions. If nobody jumps in with an idea I'd file a support request.

Did you already tried to place that file on another location than your One Drive on E:/

I saved the original video file to the main drive and saved the project on the main drive. Once I opened the project I got the same message that there was an error with the video file.

Is it just this one file or is this a problem with every file from the phone?
