Upgrade $234.95 or $149.95? Confused!

NickHope wrote on 9/13/2006, 12:29 AM
Last night I paid $234.95 + $149.95 to upgrade from V6+DVDA3 to V7+DVDA4 and get the Cinescore deal.

Now I'm hearing that I might have been able to get the upgrade for $149.95 not $234.95.

Can anyone enlighten me? Is there an introductory offer or something that is not shown on the site? Can I get a rebate from Sony for $85?

Thanks, Nick

Interestingly, Sony don't sell Vegas anymore. Say so themselves. And Vegas Pro isn't an option. But "multiple products" works!

So how did you lot all know about this?

About all what? The upgrade deal: it's all over the board! ;)

Sony sends notification about the early bird discount to anyone who's signed up for promotional announcements. (Check your Account preferences.) But I think they stagger the notifications a little so they don't put a strain on their servers.

If you haven't gotten notification yet (and I haven't either), either a) you're not signed up for promotional announcements; b) they haven't gotten to you yet; or c) it probably got snagged by a spam blocker along the way someplace.

At any rate, there's also usually something about it in their knowledge base.

Ha! Their offer email just arrived. I guess I was just too quick off the mark. Exactly the same as last time around. They refunded the difference last time. I hope they do the same this time.

sigh.... EVERY purchase button for Vegas 7+DVDA4 links to the cheap price. checked them all last night. "My Software" one, the purchase-upgrade section does.

Read some threads & try things before you post it doesn't work.

re:nick

that happens every year for some reason. I've NEVER gotten an upgrade e-mail (spam blocker isn't filtering it) but for some reason they always offer it later in the day. But, SF & Sony (for V5/6) just gave you back the difference when you e-mailed/chatted/talked to them.

HappyFriar, you're seeing the cheap price because you've got the discount code in your cookies. Use a different computer or browser with which you haven't been there yet, or clear your browser's cookies, and you'll see those pages will "revert" back to the undiscounted price.

That said, there are posts all over this board on how to get the discount (easy way, if someone hasn't gotten e-mail notification, is just go to the knowledge base -- it's the very first entry).

And if you have paid full upgrade price they are happy to refund $100 (if you ask).

$150 for V7 and $150 for Cineform. Christmas early! I usually pay at least $199 for Vegas upgrades alone. Seems to me to be a very reasonable upgrade price.

I didn't get my usual "E" mail solicitation so I called the sales people up on the phone and purchased the V7DVD4 $149.00 deal no sweat. (after giving them my V6 serial number)

Got the $85 back now. Cheers Sony. Great service considering how busy they must be right now.
