If you're looking for special introductory pricing, you'll probably see it later today.

Registered users of Vegas get their messages first.

I'm glad you guys are so excited (well, except for Zippy).

We'll get the emails out ASAP. Probably starting around 9am CST or so.

Okay, I can never remember which number is the serial number. I've got one that is 10 characters (with dash) and one that is 23 characters (with dashes).

Which is it?

SonyKSA wrote on 4/19/2004, 5:19 AM
A serial number would be 23 chars if you include the dashes in your count.
MRe wrote on 4/19/2004, 5:34 AM
Does the dowload-version also include the extras (Boris + the other)?
SonyKSA wrote on 4/19/2004, 5:43 AM
Yup. You get all the bonus software with the download.

The only things you're missing are the CD, the printed quick start guide, the keyboard short cut card, and the box itself.
rextilleon wrote on 4/19/2004, 6:02 AM
Very frustrated---the upgrade download won't take my serial number---I guess this means I will wait until ten and Q up with the thousands of others trying to do the upgrade. Looks like a wonderfu DV editing product.
taliesin wrote on 4/19/2004, 6:11 AM
Mmh, to me none of my serial numbers work (I've got two different installations of Vegas+DVD). Any hint?

If you're upgrading from Vegas+DVDA to Vegas+DVDA then you need to use your DVDA serial number. The Vegas serial number won't work for that upgrade path.
taliesin wrote on 4/19/2004, 6:24 AM
Thanks, I'll try that. Sony should tell us about which serial to use on the web-site I think.

I'll get a note in there. Sorry for the confusion.

Hmm, does that mean there is an offer on the way to my email box that is cheaper than the upgrade prices of US$299 (Vegas4 to Vegas5+DVD2) and US$199 (Vegas4 to Vegas5) I just found on the Sony site?

Should I upgrade now or is the "special introductory pricing" cheaper than the upgrade price on the web? If it's only a small difference I may be impatient and upgrade now regardless. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Skevos, how about $249.95?

I saw that price for the upgrade from Vegas4+DVD1 to Vegas5+DVD2, but I don't have DVD1.

Or are you saying that $249.95 is the special introductory price for upgrading Vegas4 to Vegas5+DVD2? If so, then I assume that means you've got your email offer already? Hmmm... US$50 is just high enough to make me wait, as it pays for half of another upgrade I'll be purchasing soon (3D software).

VideoCurmudgeon, if you have got your email offer, any chance you could share the link? That's not naughty is it Sony? After all, it won't work without my registered Vegas serial number I assume...

And Sony - are there any other special offers? Like Vegas4 to Vegas5+DVD2+SoundForge7? :-)

Checking emails every 5 mins here... :-)

No, I haven't gotten my e-mail yet. I just learned that the promo price for registered users is {EDIT} $199!!! So, I suggest you wait for the e-mail.

You did upgrade Vegas, not Vegas+DVD. In your case the Vegas reg-number was requested. In case you upgrade Vegas+DVD the DVD-A reg-number is requested. SonyKSA changed the registration dialog so it is clear now.

I just got my promo e-mail. I was over charged $50.95. I paid $249.95 and the promo price is $199.00. So I've requested they make the $50.95 adjustment on my vredit card.

If you're upgrading Vegas+DVD to Vegas+DVD, you need to enter your serial number for DVD Architect, not Vegas. (You didn't say which serial number you tried, so I guessed you used your Vegas number.)
