Didn't you backup your project? That's bad. Perhaps you can recover the original by clicking 'undo' a couple of times (or CTRL+Z)?

Ok, I compared the Youtube version with the wmv file you sent me. Youtube is indeed problematic and unusable. The wmv file you sent me is much better, but there I also notice a slight drop in volume. I guess the Youtube conversion does a really bad job on the audio.

As it happens, Youtube does more than one conversion (they do 4, actually).
Check this link below. It accesses your same movie, but another conversion, and there the sound is perfect! (it is like the wmv file).
Send this link to your friend or you'll have to tell the people to add '&fmt=18' to the youtube url

You may want to consider creating a vimeo account (www.vimeo.com), which is free, and post your video there. Vimeo won't have this issue.

Problem solved?

Lewis, the audio sync seems to be fine on that youtube video. Only your dialog is problematic. Just make your dialog in the timeline stronger in volume.

But on the preview it is fine, it is just whe i upload it to utube. Shall I increase the volume of the audio despite the fact that on the preview it goes all funny. I am going to bed now, still write replies, but i won't be reading or replying till tommorow.

Read my previous post. I SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM.
Lewis 97 wrote on 12/7/2008, 2:45 PM
is it possible that it could automatically be the good one?

Try this: in your Youtube account settings, click playback setup and select "always play higher quality". I'm not 100% sure it will work, though.

If the sound on the low quality Youtube version is bad and the sound on the high quality (fmt=18) version is good then it is quite likely that the problem is one of mono compatibility. If I remember correctly the low quality Youtube encode has mono audio and the high quality version has stereo audio.

On the full Pro version of Vegas you can quickly check if there are any mono compatibility problems by clicking on the downmix button which will immediately give you a mono downmix of the stereo audio. I don't think the Studio versions of Vegas have the Downmix button so you may need to find another way to check the mono compatibility of your stereo mix, perhaps via a mono button on your playback amp. In any case, if listening to your audio in mono reveals the same problems you are hearing in the low quality Youtube version then the solution is to adjust your audio to make it more mono-compatible, or to only let people hear the higher quality, stereo, version.
