💡(URGENT REQUEST) Resolution identifier for rendering

m3lquixd wrote on 1/11/2023, 3:01 PM

When rendering, there should be an option that automatically identifies the resolution of the project. Because sometimes we work with a specific resolution in a project, and it would be more practical to have a rendering option that would imitate the parameters already defined in the project.

You mean like equal signs that tell you which ones match your project resolution?

Those are the standards. I say custom resolutions. For example. I create a 500x1000 project. I would like to have the option to render with the same project settings, and not need to create a new template to render.

@m3lquixd: That is something that has been requested in the past and is on our list of things to try to implement at some point. However, with the variations in abilities of the different hardware encoders, unfortunately, implementing this is easier said than done. Overall, we probably need a complete overhaul of the Render As dialog.

Use Voukoder for rendering, it adapts your project resolution and framerate, no need for creating custom render templates for each project.

@m3lquixd

By default, Voukoder renders at the Vegas Pro project pixel dimensions.

That feature has probably wasted as much of my time as you are trying to save. I often render at different pixel dimensions than my projects for different use cases.

Could you explain that further? I could understand that you like to render a 4k project to 2k (like I often do) or render to another aspect ratio (21:9 instead of 16:9). But in 99% of all my projects, I prefer to set up my projects to the desired output (mostly 1080p50) also that my preview reflects the outcome.

@3POINT

Lately, I've been working projects with 640x480, 1024x768, 1280x720, and 1920x1080 source files as well as mixes of those. These projects will be finished some day. Most often, I shoot and edit UHD and delver in FHD and UHD.

But I guess when you work with those different source files you will have also different project settings and not different render templates. Also mixing them should be no problem when choosing a project setting that reflects the desired output. I think Voukoder is still your mate.

I still use it.
