You can export a .png or .jpeg sequence from Vegas using a script (RenderImageSequence.js). Photoshop, AE, and many other apps can open those formats.

Thanks SonicEPM .
I'm sure gonna try it .
Now I gotta go back to the manual and learn how to use scripts... learning never ends ! :)

Respect to SonicEPM and the image sequence script, but it renders at a rate of a few seconds per frame -- SLOW. You'd be much better off using the frameserver plug-in in conjunction with VirtualDub and use its excellent image sequence rendering. Using unfiltered DV I get a speed of 15-20 fps with this method.

See? We brought the discussion back on topic. :-)

but can't you get a "29,97"fps rate?
You mean, it *renders* at that speed or it *plays* at that speed after rendering?

Holy... I just wish there'd be an existing rotoscopy app that uses bezier curves to isolate a subject from one frame to the next and you just have to move the preceding "drawing" and modify the curves to fit then go tho the next frame...
Of course, with painting/drawing/filters options.

Such a plugin for vegas is coming... ;)

roger_74, I just now upgraded from vegas 4.0 to 4.0b and i get the problem you mentioned. So my guess is that it is a bug in the update from 4.0->4.0b and not in PluginPac FrameServer. Anyway, i'll see if i can build a way to get around this.
roger_74 wrote on 4/23/2003, 4:40 PM
Thanks.

For now I've coded around it too, I check the renderer name and just skip it.

I have this problem fixed, and the fix will be available in next update. Thanks

The two pass audio issue is being looked into by SoFo, some other users have also pointed it out ( http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=175770 ). Hopefully will be fixed in future releases.

Yeah, I mean it renders at that speed -- to an image sequence. The process I described is something like 50x faster than the image rendering script for Vegas. After rendering, it plays at whatever framerate your project settings are at, or whatever you adjusted it to within VirtualDub.

Obviously a rotoscoping app would be ideal, bypassing this image sequence step entirely, and Satish's followup comment is nothing short of massively intriguing.

Ain't it just! I hope for a little more information soon. Satish?

"Such a plugin for vegas is coming... ;)"

I printed it, had it framed, hung it on the wall and built an altar in an old empty monitor just below...
Please keep us informed, Satish!

This thing rocks! Works fine in VV2 (like all of satish's toys). I noticed it hoses Studio 1.06 (no surprise and not and issue for me) and won't serve Quicktime Pro (a minor issue because QT Pro doesn't have native support for some avi types).

Thanks for a great tool. Looking forward to your future releases!

I am building the FrameServer to support multiple editing software now, among those are Vegas,Premiere and Ulead MSPro. The idea is to build a very broad based Frameserver so that you can serve from Vegas to any other software and serve back to Vegas from that (since Frameserving is a one-way process).

If you can name other editing software for which a frameserver would be needed, i can add that to my build list. But before posting, please check if the software has freely downloadable SDKs for third party developers to build plugins.

Thanks

PS: I've already tried to build an AfterFx FS - but AE plugins do not have the required access to build a FS so that is out of question..
