Are you adding the timecode effect on the timeline or in the media pool?

Put the time code on a track above your work. Pull down the transparency slider to "0."

@JackW : Please explain?

@Praisebe : If you're using the Vegas T/C FX no BLACK removal. But I've done this in the past 😎:

I don't know about your suggestion JackW. If you bring down the transparency, then there will be no image. Here is how you do it on the timeline. Put your video on a track. Add a track on top. Insert an EMPTY event the length of your video. Add the TIMECODE effect to the empty event. Then add the MASK generator effect to the empty event. You should now have White text only.

 I was able to do it with the Mask Generator. I couldn't find the MATTE Generator in Vegas Pro 13.

Sorry, MASK generator. I didn't have Vegas opened with I typed. I will correct my previous comment.

Sorry; my bad. I wasn't at my editing computer when I wrote my comment. I always add black generated media on a track above the working track and add time code to the black track. Then I pull the transparency on the black down to "0" and the time code shows on the working track. But it does have the black box around the time code. I'll try david-tu's method; sounds good.

Or without Mask generator. Just switch the compositing mode of the track to Add or Lighten.
