>>>Back around May 11, you should have received an email from Sony where you needed to go back to their site and confirm the payment (including giving them your card number again). You would then have received a confirmation email with the tracking information.<<<<
I never received anything from Sony after paying and now when I want to investigate in My Account they want me to fill in my confirmation number... it seems like a catch 22 and I'll just have to wait for my credit card statement to pursue the case. I never had this kind of trouble with Sony before. The problem is that I don't even remember which card I used or whether I used PayPal. I've been too laid back about not receiving any confirmation letter because Sony has always come through etc...
They did get all of us to supply our credit card details when we Preordered prior to expected shipping date.
They did ask us to confirm our order and supply our credit card details again. Admittedly this seems odd and some statement from SCS here would have been sensible.
Regardless I don't think anyone has been billed twice. Even if you were I'm 101% certain you could sort this out with your CC provider and/or SCS in a few seconds.
In other words if you want it, you will need to confirm your order and supply your credit card details...again.
I made a search of all my e-mails back to March (thanks to Comcast e-mail) and indeed I never received any mailings from Sony since I placed my order. I actually remember re-entering my credit card and now can remember that it was American Xpress. I officially placed a question with Sony and just have to wait. The only thing I can think of is that I might have botched up somewhere whilst filling in my request without being aware of it and might have never ordered the update at all. But there is no way for me to find that out either until I get my credit card statement or Sony answers my official inquiry.

So Bob, you are saying here that I can't order and pay twice even if I wanted to because each order is computer and software number specific, correct? This then means if I have already paid I will get some kind of popup message saying that my order is being processed or some such thing and that I should wait, correct?
What I think Bob maybe suggesting is that the upgrade price for the V8 serial would work only once. You would see the higher price for a new copy of Vegas9 if you ordered twice.
Couple of points -- I received a confirmation shortly (same day) after confirming my order and re-entering my credit card number.
-- I too am on Comcrap and have had a number of emails that simply vanished (not into the spam folder either). Complaints to Comcast including headers of lost emails are very similar to sending to /dev/nul :-(
-- You should be able check with your credit card provider and they should be able to tell you if the card was charged and I would expect the order number associated with it (maybe not though on the order number). Assuming it has been charged, you should be able to get the information from Sony also.

No.
What I'm saying is that the normal process all of us who pre-ordered have gone through was to place our pre-order complete with entering our CC number.
After that, a few days ago we got an email asking us to confirm our order. We had to enter all details and our credit card number again.
Previously you had said "now when I want to investigate in My Account they want me to fill in my confirmation number... it seems like a catch 22 and I'll just have to wait for my credit card statement to pursue the case."
This would seem normal, you just missed the email. My point was that you have not been charged as yet. You will only be charged and the goods delivered after you confirm the order and doing that involves entering your credit card number again. The only part I'm unclear about is "my confirmation number". I don't recall ever having to enter that.
You certainly will not get two upgrades, the concern voiced by many here about the process was getting billed twice for the one upgrade. That is what has happened to no one. You probably could order two upgrades if you wanted. I suspect where you'd come unstuck is trying to register them.
What I received from Sony back on May 11, was an email titled "Your Vegas 9 pre-order" and it contained the following text and link for you to click on:
Vegas Pro is Now Available!!
The xxxxxxxxxxx was my specific order ID. I suspect this is the same email everybody else got with their unique order id. If you did not get that, either Comcast ate it or you made a mistake on filling out the initial pre-order info. And now that I have the box with nothing extra, I'm going to stay with ver 8 until they release the first patch - too many people reporting issues. Oh well, next time, just the download (in the past, I have received a disk that had extra goodies on it in a "boxed" set).

mikey<<<<<
I'm completely in agreement with you therefore I can make myself sound like a very laid back cool dude. But there are a couple of things in 9 that would be nice to have so I'll just buy the download version once I'm sure that I have never paid for anything yet.
Thanks all.
Paul
hmm.... looks like not only did they listen to people & change the UI color scheme but they also listened when people said "I just throw that crap out!".
