Can't seem to locate it on the VASST site. I looked in plugins and freeware.

Can you please list the URL?

Much appreciated,
Duncan

Where do I put the unzipped .sfpreset file?

Dan

edit: Nevermind. I guess you need version 6 for this.
busterkeaton wrote on 12/20/2005, 12:30 PM
You need the Sony Preset Manager installer.

Then you double click the .sfpreset file and it opens up the Preset Manager. Select all the fXchains in the top half and drag them to the bottom half.

You can download the Sony Preset Manager from the software section of this site.

Hi,
I am unbale to get the "Media Generator' presets to do anything in Vegas 6.0c. I have tried the following:

1. Right-click on selection --> Insert Generated Media
2. Navigate to the Media Generator Packages.
3. Add any of the JMH packages.

All I get is the Color Gradient plug-in in the chain. By the way, The Event FX Filter packages load up the presets correctly; it's only the media generation that I am unable to use.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi folks,
Any help here is appreciated. Have you used the Media Generation packages from JMH? I cannot get them to work.
Grazie wrote on 1/2/2006, 11:13 PM
Which version of Vegas are you using?

Have you used Preset Manager to migrate the video packages/chains over?

Are you viewing Plugin Manager?

What are the "Media Generation packages from JMH"? What are these?

Regards,

Grazie

I can't get them to do anything either... didn't realise they were there until I followed steps 1 to 3 in kingsfan's post.

GB - These Preset Chains are dragged onto an existing time-line event.

I have dragged one of JMH's "chains" "Metal Gold" onto the Sony Noise Texture 1. BIG difference!

GB, what are you doing?

I've dabbled with these a bit and they do seem very good, though I'm a bit confused as to what sort of event each is mainly designed for, i.e text, noise, video etc. Is there a glossary, or any thumbnail before/afters ?

Martin, your praise should really be placed at the feet of the author - and yes they are good! But I'm glad you like the look of them - I think they are superb!

Peter - "I'm a bit confused as to what sort of event each is mainly designed for, i.e text, noise, video etc. " . . er .. erm . . all of the above where you think you want them .. no? What are you confused about? I've used the GOLD one on a moving Generated Noise Media - that is too sexy! Oh, try out the JMH - (ArtFX)"Carboncillo" on some text. Do place a solid colour on track 2 though - otherwise you wont see anything! But what you WILL see is a fine outline to the text. Not feathering, but outline ... marvellous!

"Is there a glossary, or any thumbnail before/afters ? " No, no there isn't. I have asked for a thumbnail of Fx "Chains", similar to the "EYE" you see with transitions and the like. But no. I do feel the text names get pretty well close though - after a bit of trawling and scrabbling through them I've kinda got an idea of what they are about.

Thanks for alerting me to the preset manager. I installed it and used it to move the presets into my Vegas 5.0b. However, all the "Media Generated" presets do not seem to work in 5.0b. As a matter of fact, Preset Manager crashes when I try to move all the presets over to the system, UNLESS I don't move the ones that are media generated.

But all the others look fabulous in Vegas 5.0b! Thanks, Grazie.

I haven't even managed to locate the Preset Manager. As instructed, I've looked in the software section of this site. Can't seem to find it.

When our English friend used "WOW" to desribe Joorge's presets collection I was excited.
Got the preset manager from Sony download site (thanks Sony) and the preset package (thanks Joorge!) from VASST (thanks VASST).
So now I have the preset package in the preset manager.
So all the vidnerds (term of extreme affection) will roll their eyes when I ask how to access the these presets when I open Vegas. Where are they and how do I get them to the timeline?
Sorry,---we live in a small village and it was a long walk to the next.
So please, no words longer than marmalade!
Thanks.

Hello Sherman there is a tute online help with PM . . but here are a few pointers .. .

"So now I have the preset package in the preset manager." you now need your copy of Vegas to gobble them up.

Open Preset Manager. Highlight the preset Chains and click on the "Copy to system" icon on the PM toolbar. For me this has placed all the "new" preset chains into the video FX packages. These can now be accessed once inside Vegas by Viewing "Plugin Manager". This works for me.

Now, once you see the lists of Filter Packages within Plugin Manager, try drag and plopping onto: Text, Pictures or even video. The other way to get at these Chains is to click on the Fx icon on the event and access the subfolder "Filter Packages". This will list all your home grown or newly up loaded "Chains" - like the ones from the VASST site. I can also access the ones I've created over the months I've been using "Save As" chain saver too.

Have fun,

Grazie

1. Download the zip file and extract it.
2. Double-click on the .sfpreset file that is extracted. This will open the preset manager. (assuming you already installed that)
3. Click on Edit ,and choose "Copy to System". Close the preset manager (if you're using Vegas 5.0, you'll get an error, in which case you need to delete all the "media generated" presets in the lower right hand quadrant - they don't seem to work with Vegas 5)
4. Open Vegas, add video to a video track.
5. Right click on the video event, and choose "Video Event Fx". A window will open with all the filter package presets. Choose one and click on the "Add" button.
6. Voila! (tweak to your heart's content)

Thanks DJ! - I think, as I originally did, some of us consider that PM is the thing to use within Vegas. But it is not. It is purely, ONLY a way to transport/transfer the Chains to and from Vegas. Plugin Manager OR the ADD Fx window's filter packages is the way to then go on and USE the chains.

Grazie
