Vegas 12 PC Specs

Hello can anyone tell me what the PC Specs are for Vegas Pro 12 so as to enable editing of HD 1920 X 1080 using say max 10 FX ?
I have two PC's both totally out of their depth and unable to do the most basic timeline edits using two or three FX .

I after been a Vegas 7 starter am starting to believe that now after paying my way to Vegas 12 that I have been had big time, I am unable to edit ANY HD footage in the V12 Time line apart from basic cuts and Levels FX as for the rest forget it , I can select the FX and place them in the chain but nothing happens when I select them .
I have no chance of watching my video in the timeline in hd so i have no idea as to what my edited footage will look like following the application of say Levels or HSL for instance.

I do hope Vegas is not trying to send me a message ........does anyone know anything about Avid does it work in HD or does it suffer the same problems?

Better still does anyone here know the name of an editing software that does enable HD editing with FX for a PC ?

Many Thanks for any help, PS I have already done the rounds of the Sony FAQ BS, I either have a dud version of Sony Vegas 8 , 10, 12 or my Dell T3500 is not up to the job.

Cheers Amata

I would explore the latter possibility first. The X58 chipset shown in the T3500 spec sheet is a little behind the curve. You'll learn that I'm a master of understatement.

I don't think you ever stated what video card you're using but the video card can be the key to timeline performance to the extent that the fx is able to use it.

This thread will describe some "common wisdom" about video cards from the members of this forum.

Did you by any chance bypass the FX?

Can you exactly the specs of your workstation or fill out your systems spec to your best knowledge? X58 while older should be able to handle VP12.
