Vegas 15 Pro (build 416) crashes every 40 minutes

Luigi-Guido wrote on 1/4/2024, 5:18 AM

Good morning everyone, this is the first time I've written in this forum, I don't know English and I translate everything with Google translator, so I hope that no diplomatic incidents happen and that no one gets offended.

I use Vegas Pro 15 Build 416, well on Windows 7 it didn't give me many problems, in fact I could complete rendering of a video even lasting 2 hours, but since I put Windows 10, about 4/5 years ago, Vegas 15 Pro is no longer able to complete a rendering of a video over 1 hour long, every 40 minutes it crashes, and to overcome this problem I am forced to divide the video in two.

I work as a video maker on Youtube and I bring gameplay and work on no less than 10 audio and video tracks, I use effects implemented in Vegas, so no third-party add ons or VSTs. My gameplays are recorded with Nvidia's Shadowplay since I have an MSI 3070 TI in separate audio tracks and FullHD resolution at 50 mega bitrate, and I use the facecam always recorded in FullHD 50 mega bitrate, with OBS Studio via my Nexigo webcam 2K. I always render the videos in FullHD 50 mega non-variable bitrate to give a minimum of extra quality since YouTube destroys my work. Is there a fix to solve this damn problem?

I tried Vegas Pro 15 Build 416 on my Lenovo laptop with i7 12650H, Nvidia 3060 and 16 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz ram and Windows 11, but it behaves the same way.

My desktop PC has this configuration, leaving out other no less important components such as the motherboard :

Ryzen 5 5600x, MSI RTX 3070 TI, Ballistix 16 GB (2x8) 3200 MHz, Samsung 870 Evo 500 GB

Let me know if you can. Thank you.

What does your crash report say?
How much space is on your renderlocation?

Hi j-v, sorry for the delay, but I didn't have time to reply.

As for the crash report, as soon as the warning appeared on the screen, I immediately sent it by ticking the option to add the problem. Before asking for help in this forum I searched the various Magix folders and managed to find all the crash reports, but I can't open them because they are all ERPT files and I don't have the right program. Can you help me?

For rendering storage, I chose the internal 2TB mechanical hard disk, where I store everything there. I currently have 1.16TB of space available, while I use the 500GB SSD only for Windows, programs and games.

Thank you

Yes, in the last crash message before sending it I checked both options and briefly described what happens and sent it. Is it possible to recover the information of that crash in some text file after sending it? It should be noted that when I sent the crash warning I didn't know that I had to first press the Shift + Ctrl combination to save the report on the PC. Furthermore, in one of the many crashes that occurred in the past I read the details of the problem, I don't remember the intertext, but I remember that in two lines there was both the name of the executable of the Vegas 15 Pro program and the exe of the Nvidia drivers , but specifically I absolutely don't remember what it was referring to, furthermore these sudden program crashes only happen while the program is being rendered with files longer than 1 hour. Is it possible that the program doesn't support effects such as the PiP that I use to shrink the video clip of the Webcam on gameplay and other effects that I regularly use in projects, such as the chroma key and titles on renderings of such long files?

@Luigi-Guido

Windows Reliability History summarizes details about events that happened to your system.

From the History, you can copy the results to the Clipboard and paste it into a code block on the forum.

Hi jetdv, I found the files before opening a new discussion on this forum, but unfortunately I can't open them as they are files with the .erpt extension and I don't know how to open them, I tried with Windows 10 Pro notepad, but there are only indecipherable alphanumeric codes. If you can tell me how to open them I can copy everything and share it here.

In the meantime I followed the video of john_dennis, whom I thank very much and I copied the text below. Unfortunately, having Windows in my Italian language, I don't know and by translating it with Google you can understand the text, I'm sorry.

The vegas150.exe program version 15.0.0.416 no longer interacts with Windows and has been closed. To see if there is more information about the problem, check the problem history in Security and Maintenance in Control Panel. I see ZIP files in mine where I checked both boxes. I also see the erpt files as well. But the zip files contain many additional files.

Luigi-Guido wrote on 1/5/2024, 3:58 PM

Unfortunately in the Vegas ErrorReport folder I only have .erpt files and the names of these files are called VEGASApp followed by a series of numbers. The last Report is called VEGASApp6984, but if I open it with notepad nothing is written except the name of the program, the build and a couple of vst folder paths and the sign where the Reports are saved. Nothing else.

Good evening, once again Vegas crashed while rendering a video lasting 1 hour and 35 minutes. The usual message appeared, I checked both options and this time before clicking on send, I held down CTRL and SHIFT and then pressed enter. It generated a zip archive for me and inside, as well as various files, including a copy of my template that I use for my Relax videos of the Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator games. I also found an XML file. This is what it contains. I hope this time we can understand why Vegas, only when I have to render a video longer than 1 hour, after 40 minutes it crashes, I haven't lost anything because I always save before clicking on render, you don't know never.
