Vegas 16 on Win 7

David-Del wrote on 5/8/2021, 5:01 PM

I was tasked with editing a video for a friend. I don't have a fast computer, so he has let me use his. I purchased the humble bundle Vegas 16 Pro version for installation. I installed it and I get this error :

Error code 24 - this serial number is already registered to another email address

I am not sure. I cannot bring in video files without this error.

I tried to deactivate it and it gives me another error. I have uninstalled it and I am going to try again.

If you use the search function here in the forum with "Error code 24", you will find what you are looking for.

Ok, the problem remains. I cannot uninstall this software. I have tried REVO and I have tried the built-in window uninstaller.

I am going to use my new PC build with this software instead of my friends. The problem is I cannot because I cannot Deactivate (error 19) and I cannot uninstall!

I too have used humble bundle Vegas 16 software. The software shows up in my magix account. Rather than deactivating from within Vegas log into your Magix account and deactivate from there. You can see that deactivation has taken place and you have an activation available for your new build. Then follow instructions found on this forum to uninstall software. Revo should work.

Ok, I have sent a post to info@magix, but are you saying there is a better way? Can you provide the link to deactivate from Magix?

Also, is the Magix site the same login as here? Or do I need to create a brand new login to use that?

Scratch that, I did find the deactivation in the menu system here under :

My product > My account

diverG wrote on 5/12/2021, 1:26 PM

As long as you can get into your Magix account you can always retrieve your serial number. Covers all Magix products. If resolved maybe mark up as resolved? Thanks.

Is it a pirated copy of Vegas? It's okay if it is.
yes

Have you checked the FAQs in the Wiki Page?
yes

Have you searching this subreddit for keywords pertaining to your issue?
yes

Here is a video showing the problem I have. I have absolutely 0 lag with about 30% cpu usage untill I use any sort of transition or effects on my clips. In the youtube video I have a raw clip with nothing else than just the transition. The transition makes my cpu usage go to 100%.

yes

I'm confused by this question and answer.

Does this mean you have a pirated copy of Vegas? Or, are you asking if they have a pirated copy of Vegas?

If none of the above...what?

@Kakashi: This is not Reddit. We do not support pirated versions of VEGAS on this forum.

I mean you get get the legit version of VP 16 for $30 but you're pirating it? I don't get it.

I suspect what has happened is that some pirates rub it in by scamming [insert a P T Barnham quote] money to buy a pirated product. It's cropped up before on the forum.

1) I bought the copy of Vegas 16 from Humble Bundle - so I am assuming it is a legit version of the program.

https://www.humblebundle.com/software/vegas-pro-discover-your-endless-freedom-software

2) I have deactivated the program (in Win 7) from one computer and reactivated it on a new computer in Win 10.

set wrote on 5/13/2021, 8:31 AM

@David-Del - Yes, Humble Bundle offer is legit.

@David-Del  ... the piracy issue was aimed at Kakashi, not you - though it may have been conflated with your post re the price. There were quite a number of instances a few months ago where Reddit posts were weirdly also creating a post on the Vegas Pro forum. Maybe Kakashi's post is one of those.
