Vegas 16 (Update 2) Won't Write Data When Rendering

fr0sty wrote on 10/31/2018, 10:52 PM

I tried rendering my first project after the new update, and it is giving me trouble already. It doesn't render anything, no matter which codec you use or if you use the GPU or not, including timeline GPU. The render dialogue doesn't show any data being written to disk, though the frames are counting through on the preview. If you try to use NVENC, the frames jumble up and the render freezes quickly. If you use CPU only, it will act like it is rendering, but disk activity is at zero and eventually it crashes.

The Media is:

A few clips from a GH4 at 4K UHD 100mbps mp4 codec, 23.97 frames per second

A few clips from a GH5 at 4K Cinema resolution 150mbps 10 bit 24fps (accidentally didn't use UHD 16:9 like I usually do)

An AE animation rendered to quicktime uncompressed at 24fps, UHD resolution.

8 bit UHD 24p project

Changing render template from 4K X fps (whatever the codec has available) to 24p to match my project settings.

Google Drive hung about 2/3 of the way through zipping your approx. 40GB of media. That much wouldn't be possible for me to download anyway on my connection. I doubt anyone will check this out unless you can make a much smaller download that demonstrates the issue.

It may be easier to direct download the video files without zipping. I will try to figure out how to reproduce with less media.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I downloaded your files, almost 37 GB, see screenshot.
There are two Vegs in it, but I can hardly belief you did send the right Veg, because both listed Vegs use only a few files and both projects give error messages of missing files.
So maybe there is another Veg with your real project?

Sorry, I accidentally exported into a folder I had exported another project I was having trouble with for Magix... Here is the correct link. 15GB. I included proxy files just in case they were part of the problem. If anyone can successfully render this into a 4K AVC or help me to do the same, I will love you forever... I'm late on this project and need to get it out the door.

EDIT: It appears Sony XAVC-I 4K 23.97 is rendering, the render dialog is showing data being written, but no other codecs so far have worked (I've tried AVC, HEVC, Magix Intermediate). I am going to try to render to it, then convert that file to AVC from there.

My laptop is now halfway rendering to a 4K 24p Magix Intermediate following this template

Because my system could not open the logo.mov I had to convert that one first to a mp4.
To what codec and kind of file (template) do you want to render the project?

My renders are ready without problems but some transitions I don't have

I rendered to that Magix IntermediateI mentioned before with a filesize of more than 13 GB as .mov
and to Magix AVC 4K with this customized settings

If you wish to download that one from my dropbox follow this link .

I'm just confused now, after giving me all that trouble, it all seems to be working fine today... Perhaps my PC just needed a nap (I had tried reboots yesterday as well, with no luck). Thanks for the quick replies and the help, I got the video to the client, they were thrilled. Then, after seeing how good I did on both the water screen setup and the promo video, the guy I've been doing the water screens with all this time gave me his company... he just got a great paying job doing other stuff and can no longer travel to these events. Now I'm thrilled too... lol. Couldn't have done it without this video, so thanks a lot for helping me get it out.
