Vegas 18 - New Install and no mp3

I am doing a new install of Vegas Pro 18 on a new computer. I've had many many versions of Vegas over the years (even dating back to the Sony years). After this new install I am unable to render audio as an mp3 file. No mp3 option is even available. And when I add an existing mp3 audio file to a project, the sound is distorted. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall. I've tried the "reset" Vegas option (holding down ctrl-shift while starting), and neither works. I've tried installing an older version of Vegas (16) and then reinstalling 18 again, no help. New computer is a Dell XPS 8940 (fairly high end). Yes I can render to a "wav" file (or other format) and convert with another program but I'd really prefer to do it all under Vegas. Ideas?

Which build are you are using ?
Using the program as admin.?
Do you have the intenet connection on?

I'm using build 527. I've tried running as admin. (no difference). Yes my internet connection is on (420M down, 20 up). In the render dialog there is no "mp3" choice. When searching for rendering formats, there is no "mp3".

I've also searched my hardrive using the the file path from your screenshot. I have the mp3plug2.dll file, but no mp3 options given for rendering.

That is odd. My settings are identical to J-V.

You only seem to be missing this one audio render type:

When you reset you double-clicked from the desktop or program icon and it prompted you to clear the cache? If resetting and reinstalling don't work I'm at a loss.

EricLNZ - that solved the problem! I had tried holding down Ctrl-shift while starting from the taskbar, but it seems to work different when you double click on the desktop icon, giving you the chance to "clear the cache". Thanks again!

It's to do with the way Windows sets up some "shortcuts".
