I second that. Just tried it, very useful. Thanks, Liam!

HA HA take a number, just thought of this - ok.
Say you're in line steve has number five, you have number 9. The guy the came in 30 min after you has number 11. So the clerk calls for number 11 ...... bet you'd want human ordering then?

Liam:Hmm.. I wonder if these functions are "exposed" to the .Net framework? If so... then one of the Vegas script gurus could probably create a script that would bring the slides direct into the vegas time-line.

I like the way your brain works... :D

Ok, so we established that Vegas 4/5 & Windows XP list file differently (Vegas uses the "correct" way & XP uses the "user friendly" way).

Well, hold on to your seats!

I was adding some pics to the timeline of V4 (helping a fellow poster with their pan/crop question). I did it in Vegas 4. My pictures were listed in alphabetical order (name order). Here's how they were listed (in V4):

01.jpg
01-03-03 copy.jpg
01-03-03.jpg
02.jpg
022404.jpg
03.jpg.
..and so on.

This is how we've determined they are susposed to "correctly" appear.

Here's V5 listing:

01-03-03 copy.jpg
01-03-03.jpg
01.jpg
02.jpg
022404.jpg
03.jpg

notice the difference? It's in alphabetical order by the FIRST charecter, but then it's all fudged up after that!! Go figure! :)

One thing to check... did you click the first file in the list when you did the click / drag operation both times? (A windows quirk... if you click a file from the middle of the list when you click'n'drag - that file will be "dropped" first in the application. So you can get some strange results. Although I'm not sure that would explain THF's discovery)

Are you asking me? I was just dropping the 01.jpg onto the timeline (in V5 I almost ddi the 01-03-03 copy.jpg, that's how I noticed this). Ironicly, if I import pictures into my full copy of Adobe Acrobat 4 (yeah, an old one), it does this differently. :) If ! have a couple pictures (1 through 5) & click on 1,2,3,4,5 (or click on 1, hold shift, click on 5) then it brings in the over 5,1,2,3,4. :) I have to click on the LAST picture & go backwards to get files to import into that properly! :)

Wierd thing on the listing in V4 & V5 though.
