Vegas 6d and mov file

Hello,

I have a .mov file that with the following specs:
Codec: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv)
Resolution: 1440x1080
Frame rate: 29.970000

Only the audio will open in Vegas. Any suggestions? Am I missing something?

I also tried this .mov file in a trial version of Vegas 10 to no avail.

However, I am having success with .mov files that have:
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Resolution: 1280x720
Frame rate: 59.940059

I am aware of all the different templates under File, New and have tried every one of them.

Please advise if you can. Thanks in advance.

Will it play in VLC player?

What Quicktime version do you have installed?

Open the file in MediaInfo, change to View > Text, then paste the full output here.

Also in the Vegas 6d Explorer window (not Windows Explorer), right click on the file and choose "Properties", and paste that full output here too. Do it for Vegas 10 too if your trial is still working.

That might help us troubleshoot it. Ultimately you might have to transcode it to something Vegas likes by using a program such as SUPER.

@ Nick

Do you know if Vegas 6d reads MT2 files?

To answer your question: yes. It plays in VLC. I have the latest version of Quicktime installed. When I get home, I'll open the MediaInfo and get some stats here.

Thanks.

Do you mean MT2 files or .m2t files? I can't remember if Vegas 6d reads those, I'm sorry.

The latest version of Quicktime breaks compatibility with Vegas Pro 8.0, so it almost certainly does the same with 6d. Try uninstalling and installing an older version as follows:

Latest compatible QuickTime versions for Vegas Pro 8.0:

QuickTime 7.6.2
QuickTime Alternative 2.9.2 (Decoder only. Less instrusive than Quicktime)
iTunes 8.2.1 (if you must have iTunes too. Comes with QuickTime 7.6.2. Cannot purchase from iTunes store. DO NOT UPDATE IT)

I'm quoting this so often these days it should be a sticky.
