Vegas Freezes When I Pause/Play

Hey! I recently got a new custom built PC, and one of the reasons is for my recordings - I had an Alienware laptop before, and the webcam quality could only go up to 640x360 on there before OBS started messing with my audio track, but on this new PC, it can reach 1920x1080 and everything is fine. That is, until I put it in Vegas 15. Once I put it in to edit and render, anytime I pause/play/delete a clip, Vegas freeze for a good 15-20 seconds, and this makes it very tedious to do any editing. I tried to change the quality to 1024x576 - which isn't much better quality than what I had previously. The playback also stays on the first frame until I pause/play it again, which isn't as big of an issue, but still tedious. Am I missing something/doing something wrong? I'd even be fine with 1280x720, but Vegas still freezes when I record in that quality. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

*Edit being I put 640x260 instead of 640x360
