I've had all versions of Vegas from version 2. Awesome app., Sound Forge 5 made me look at it. I've used CW apps. from the beginning and was enticed by Sound Forge's UI.
I bought Acid 4 Pro in hopes it would replace Sonar.
It's a waste of time and money for me. No staff view is a show stopper. I have NO use for loops or using other people's material. While it does record MIDI performances and have a nice routing convention it's still useless in the MIDI environment.
Either make Vegas a DAW or drastically improve Acid's MIDI functionality.
"What tool do we have to correct out of time parts?"
TALKBACK BUTTON and RECORD:
1. Press talkback button
2. Say, "Drummer you suck, so we're doing it again"
3. RECORD.
I don't get it. If you're clients are really that bad where the drummer can't even play 12 measures consistantly, really though, there's a point where you have to put your foot down. I've been in those sessions, I'll politely, point out their mistakes, recommend they record it again. After about 12 takes of the drummer consistantly screwing up, the rest of the band is usually all over the drummer. Finally, they'll all get fed up and realize, it's time to back home and practice and come back to the studio in a couple weeks when they're more prepared. Quit polishing turds and being such a pu**y. Your clients will respect you much more for your honest opinion in the long run, when they walk out of the studio with a decent sounding product.
Have Vegas but not Acid, just don't have the musical talent so i use SonicFire Pro for corporate stuff. If I needed serious music for any video I'd pay a composer and musician(s).
Im telling you in the last five years there has been a shift in the "average band". They KNOW about editing, more importantly their parents know about editing. hey expect to slap some crap down and leave and you better have a billion dollar album for em
we have to take these bands so we can afford to record the bands we'd like to
I use Vegas 5, and have never seen or used Acid. I have heard plenty about it. I guess I haven't bought it because I don't realize what I'm missing. I use Vegas for looping if I need to.
i own v5 w/ dvda2 but not acid. i am using Sonar for audio multitracking and Sound Forge for editing. i also have FLStudio and VSampler that plugs in nicely with Sonar. Sonar does acidized loops too. i tried the trial version of ACID years ago but found it to be a bit more limited than Sonar (I have been using Sonar since it was Cakewalk ProAudio 5 then). I use Sonar for remixing dance tracks and Vegas, not so much for its audio capabilities, but for videos (as a side hobby).
