Although you list no specs for your system, and I cannot make much of the error reports you have included, there have been a number of similar threads here over the last couple of months.

Some of us, including me, have experienced similar crashes that happened during or around rendering, and I, specifically, would get a crash every time I tried using one of the AC3 renders.

For me, all of these crashes stopped when I simply right clicked on the desktop Vegas icon, clicked on Properties, then selected the Windows 7 compatibility mode. Since I was already in and using Win 7, this seemed counter-intuitive, but worked completely for me and apparently at least a couple of other users of Vegas Pro 11 on Win 7.

Don't know if you are using Win 7, but, if you are, this should be worth a try and I have not heard of any downside to running in this mode.

Thank you for your response....I'll give it a try!

From the error report, you are runnung Vegas 11 build 595. Build 683 is available. No promise that it fixes this problem, but it fixed some problems. Condider updating.
mudsmith wrote on 6/9/2012, 3:24 PM
I would second that recommendation. My fix worked with build 683 installed.......It almost always helps with official support to have the latest build in there, too.

Thank you.

I just followed your instructions re. Windows 7 compatibility mode. The app seems snappy-er immediately. Fingers crossed. Next I will try editing some titles...

Thanks to both of you....I updated everything....hope this fixes it!

I updated everything but Vegas still shut down during the rendering process at the same spot.....do you have any other possible solutions?

Thanks for your help!

By the way, my project is 12.06 GB in size and runs 59 minutes....would this have anything to do with the problem?
john_dennis wrote on 6/10/2012, 1:58 AM
The length of the program nor the size of the file shouldn't matter, unless 1) you are out of disk space on the target drive or 2) you are rendering to a disk with a ticky-tacky file system such as FAT32. Use NTFS. If the render fails in the same location repeatedly, try rendering the area around where the failure occurs without rendering the whole project. You could conceivably have a corrupt source file.

Thank you....I'll try that.

Here are the messages that appeared after the latest shutdown:

Could all of this be caused by a driver problem?

Could all of this be caused by a driver problem?

It definitely could. Your error reports are very similar to those experienced by ushere in his very recent urgent help please.... thread and here was his solution.
"i finally (after 3 head-banging days) discovered on my third clean install that my 'latest' logitech g100 keyboard drivers somehow conflicted with my 'latest' wacom drivers. dropping the keyboard back to legacy seems to have stopped the rot."

I am also on these forums as of now for a Render crashing question, though mine is related to Quicktime only. (What format are you trying to render to? My Vegas 11 64 bit does not render to Quicktime. My solution is to render an .AVI then encode it as a quicktime using the actual Quicktime player if the client wants a Quicktime).

I don't know a lot about your specific error, but it looks to me like it says you have a OpenGL error. What about turning off OpenGL in the preferences and rendering from there. I don't think OpenGL will help too much with the render speeds anyway.

Hope this helps! good luck.

I'm trying to render to MainConcept MPEG-2 Blu-ray 1920x1080-60i, 25 Mbps video stream.

I'll try your suggestion about turning off OpenGL....thanks to all of you for taking the time to respond....I appreciate it very much!!

Also, Guy, there is another simple solution as well. You can download the 32 bit version of Vegas and render from there.

I use the 32 bit version to render anything other than .AVI or .WMV.

Your files will open in the 32 bit version or the 64 bit verion without affecting the edits.

Hi Matt,
Can you tell me how to turn off OpenGL in preferences? I can't find it!

Thanks,

I downloaded the 32-bit version but it didn't help....Vegas still crashes while rendering my "Mercury2" project.

I discovered that a new project I started in Vegas renders and burns to Blu-ray with no problem.....also, the NewBlue Titler Pro works in the new project but crashes Vegas when I'm working with my "Mercury2" project.

Does anybody have a possible solution for this?

Thanks,
Guy

Using the "Render As" process, I successfully rendered the final six minutes of video of my "Mercury2" project. But when I went back to render the audio in Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro, the "Render" button in the lower right of the window is ghosted out. On my previous attempts to render my complete project under "Tools -- Burn Disc -- Blu-ray Disc," Vegas would always shut down right as it started to render the audio. What could be causing this? Could there be a problem with the audio? The audio properties of my project are:
Master bus mode: Stereo
Number of stereo busses: 0
Sample rate (Hz): 48,000
Bit depth: 24
Resample and stretch qualtiy: Best

Thanks for your help!

I talked to Sony software support this morning....seems like my problem may be solfved by doing a clean reinstall....here's hoping it works!
