Vegas Pro 12 "not responding"

I am running the latest build of Vegas Pro 12 and have the latest video drivers installed. If I start a new project and import video (mov, mpg2, or mpg4) or stills (jpg) the program hangs and gives me the message "not responding." I have to restart and the same thing happens again. I can import audio (wav) files and drop them into the timeline and Vegas seems to be OK with that. However, I need to do video editing. This just started happening 3 days ago. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no improvement. Any suggestons?

I am having the same issue as well. It was working previously and suddenly I began to get the not responding error message. I have done the recommendations on this thread and I am beyond frustrated. I have a show that needs to be edited by Saturday, May 3rd and a training video for a health organization completed in a couple of weeks. I am wondering if I should have stayed with Final Cut Pro. I need software that is stable and reliable.
