I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 12 Build 770 64-bit. I just did a complete wipe of my machine and a fresh install of everything. Now SVP 12 will not directly import .MOV files. Honestly, I'm not sure it ever did. I previously had both 11 and 12 installed and continued to use 11 for older projects. I don't frequently deal with .MOV files.
So... I reinstalled SVP 11 Build 701 64-bit, and it correctly imports the same .MOV files. In SVP 11, I can drag/drop .MOV files or do a file open, and it works just fine. In SVP 12, I get an error message on drag and drop, and when I do a file open, MOV files are not displayed as valid input files. In addition, SVP 11 will render .MOV files but SVP 12 will not. I will note that I didn't originally install Quicktime when I installed SVP 12. I installed it concurrent with re-installing SVP 11. In the SVP 11 render menu, .MOV shows up under a Quicktime category.
Question: If my machine has the codecs for SVP 11 to work, then shouldn't SVP 12 be able to use the same codecs? Thoughts?
Thanks!
