Vegas Pro 13 at NAB

frankly i've never quite understood the point of o'clocking. yes, i know it's to squeeze as much out of the cpu as is possible - and i have no problem with that per se. HOWEVER, if you're using a pc in a mission critical situation, (and by golly, running vegas nowadays is surely mission critical), the idea of oc'ing is just asking for problems.

if you want a faster cpu surely it's a lot simpler and infinitely more reliable to simply buy a more powerful one.

i am NOT knocking oc'ing, just the circumstances when it's done.

Overclocking is only for those that know what they are doing. There are also different "levels" of overclocking; there are those that do it for competition and those that just want to get a bit more out of their CPU. I already have the fasted CPU for my motherboard and I have different OC settings for different purpose. The difference in performance inside Vegas between the stock 3.8GHz and my usual 4.3GHz is huge with respect to realtime preview and rendering. Overclocking a 3930K to 4.2-4.3GHz isn't that difficult and any good motherboard can do it with a click and it will be stable too. As I said, you need more then just a good board to do so, memory, cooling, casing, psu all must be able to handle the extra stress. I have been running my system now for 12 month daily and working with Vegas 12 is just a delight. I just finished my latest project with a mix of 1080-60p AVCHD, 720-60p GoPro, 1080-30p iPhone and many 12megapixel stills in a breeze; best NLE ever... looking forward to VP13!

Get this OVERCLOCKING = HIGH Risk! If the OC variable was so important and useful to general computer installations then there would be a field speciality of knowledge and PC TECHS that offer nothing more than services to OC virtually everyone. Those that maintain that they only are the ones who know what to do are elaborating on truth tellling.
The fact is that it is risk taking and is really only viable to those who are willing to take high risk.

Most people do not have good enough cooling to do any overclocking. You must have a large tower CPU cooler or a *good* liquid cooler and you still want good airflow through the case as well. Unless you built the PC yourself, you probably do not have powerful cooling.

That's why I built my PC from the ground up.

Since you guys mentioned overclocking and cooling and Vegas. I paste a link here for you guys to check out my cooling system and OCed to the max. I have been running 5.0ghz with Vegas absolutely no issues. Just wanna share.

"I like to be at HIGH RISK"

Like that idiot I saw on telly the other night who gets his thrills, and even scares himself sometimes, climbing up and out on tall cranes and other structures and doing backflips on small platforms.

I didn't go that far on my system but I do have a custom cooling system for my cpu and both GTX580 all mounted in a Corsair Graphite 600T case. It is very quiet at 4.3GHz which is my stable setting for Vegas and during rendering the pwm fans will ramp up a bit.

High OC is not for everybody. If your are not willing to take the risk, then don't do it. For me, on the other hand, I am loving every bit of it. I've purchased Intel Tuning Plan. If I killed the cpu. I am entitled for a one time free replacement. No question ask. What do I got to loose? Some down time? I have a 2nd desktop i7 920 as a back up computer. Hell why not pump out the speed I love.

Oldsmoke. The tuning plan cost $35 for 3930K and $25 for 4930K.

ps. Do a search Intel Tuning Plan, you will find a whole lists of other cpu as well. it is definately worth the price.

I recently became a Vegas/Dostudio user BECAUSE of the Adobe Premire switch to CC (Cloud with subscription). They have even more problems with support... Always adding new feechurs, but never fixing existing bugs.

Now let me ask an important question.

Who here is going to NAB?
And will you post a photo of Vegas Pro 13 here for us all to see?

That would be great.
videoITguy wrote on 3/26/2014, 9:09 PM
a color photo? PHOTO? give me a break - a picture of the booth with the SCS logo in bright lights? what?

A bug correction list that is miles long and meaningful would be more to the point.

Lol videoITguy.

Still It would be great to see some one holding a Vegas Pro 13 in their hand :-D.
Imagine the amazing first time experience of being able to see.....the freshly pressed Vegas Pro 13 packaging..

Just staying on topic you know 'Vegas Pro 13 at NAB'.

:-D

So I am not allowed to be happy about a new product release?

There is so much bashing already going on here about the SCS products.

Seeing that this thread has nothing to do with previous SCS products and myself having no problem with my Vegas Pro at this moment I do not feel like complaining about it.

Seeing the title of this thread 'Vegas Pro 13 at NAB' I am staying on topic. And I am being happy about it.

For those who have complaint about their software, there are other appropriate threads.

Still hoping that someone will post a photo here at April the 5th.
I am unable to attend NAB.

If Sony is going to showcase or launch Vegas Pro 13 on their site then it's ok too.

Looking forward.

Cloud? I smell an Adobe subscription model poking its antenna through the cloud. I see Autodesk now have subscription choice. You rent Vegas XIII Pro or the complete suite of products. :)
