Cloud integration is a reason for me NOT to upgrade. Easier archiving might be of interest depending how it's done. I'd like better search/explore functions. I also think there's room for improvement in navigation and keyboard shortcuts. Guess I'll wait and see.

just to add yet another cry for stability and bug fixes BEFORE anything else...

12 has been really good for me OTHER than this 'render as' whiteout that i've written / complained / moaned / cursed about in other threads.0

as for all this cloud stuff - b*llsh*t - unless you have a decent / fast / affordable / reliable connection it's just so much buzz word / gimmick / marketing hype.

as for collaboration - let's see it's implementation.

oh, did i mention gpu implementation for cards later than 5 series?

i'm still a vegas fanboi....

Lets hope that "Nomen est nomen" is not true for this unlucky version number. At least the people at SCS are not superstitious...

I started with Vegas 6 - it NEVER crasched or malfunctioned - even once! I have purchased all versions since then. My problems and crashing started when GPU acceleration an 64-bit support was added. Most of my problems ended when I recently scrapped everything with nVidia name on it and bought a Radeon GPU. Sadly I cannot send the invoice to SCS...

VP12 is not completely problem free but crashes rarely with this hardware. I have learned to live with it. Lets hope that VP13 is not going to be (with all the added functionality) such a joke as VP12 initially was (at least for me).

Crossing my fingers... Most of the mentioned new features are not important for me personally so lets see if I (again) blindly preorder in the hope to get some confirmed bugs fixed. It might not be wise taking into consideration how many bug releases VP12 needed - maybe I pass. I don't want to fix what ain't (too much) broken.

Christian

my specs are "there" too: i3770k, 32GB ram, 6GB Nvidia, 64 bit.... ima tech for a living, drivers up to date, system runs VERY CLEAN. Pro11 runs fine, 12 randomly crashes. NOTHING ELSE on my system has ever crashed (whole new system about 8 months ago) ONLY Pro12 crashes. I'm no troll.... I bought a car with a broken piston, and the manufacturer is going to ask me to buy a whole new car next year? Just no.

There should be lemon laws for failing software.

I'm going to buy V13 in spite of my problems. I really know my way around Vegas and have a lot of plugins specifically for this platform. I have been, and will continue to work with Vegas in spite of the issues. To get to the point where I could make other software do what I can make Vegas do, and to start again with acquiring plugins, is not something I want to do. Who knows, maybe V13 will be more like V10 and earlier stability-wise. I sure hope so.

It makes me wonder if Sony understand their users if they think that Cloud sharing is a priority or a good use of resources. Vegas is never going to be Premiere or have it's user base. I wonder how many of us need or want to work and share on the cloud? I always get the impression we are a bunch of one man editors.

I work primarily with DSLR mov files and Red R3D files. I don't use any video acceleration and the majority of lockups I get are from plugins. A couple of instances of Magic Bullets Looks or a few Waves audio plugins and my stability drops. Is that Vegas fault or the plugin developers. To be honest - I don't know or care! For a new version of Vegas, I know that the biggest time saver is for me to not have to redo edits made in the last 10 minutes because I forgot to save my project. I love Vegas but should I buy Vegas 13 if it offers me nothing useful and doesn't address my problems?

remember a year and a half ago, when we, the forum community, were asked to be part of the beta for 12?

if they're beta testing 13 without us, what does that say about their respect for the current user base vs. possible new buyers?

i too don't need cloud or anything but increased stability.

I would like some kind of real confirmation before I discuss this any further.

Find a copy of the trade magazine referenced in the OP.

This is the magazine where I read it. It's a very short blurb on page 50.

Mentioned in a mag or not, given that V12 has been out for some time now, i guess we could safely assume V13 is being worked on. Maybe in beta stages, or maybe not yet. And once that's out, V14 will follow similarly after a period.

That's unless they are superstitious and skip "13" completely !

@Ushere : true, probably no new product can be announced right now, including, a rumor for Sony's version of 'EOS 1DC'
All info available there are just existing products available...

The only 'leaked info' is just from TV Technology. Thanks for screenshot, Mike 'rs170a'.

I too am worried about Vegas Pro 13. I jumped to Vegas Pro 12 and have been having issues the whole time. The hitfilm integration was sketchy on large programs. I use hitfilm and its rock solid. I should be able to handle cutting a whole movie using Vegas Pro 12 and any of the plug ins and features. I had issues where loading would go SO slowly, that is if it didn't stop responding. I searched for help via youtube, forums and google search and didn't really get any fixes. I still use Vegas pro because of my student discount of Adobe CS 6 master collection could apparently only be used until Aug. I avoid loading it down and it works... but that really sucks.

I have a i7 3770k overclocked, GTX 780 SC, 32 gigs of ram and C drive is an SSD.
_Lenny_ wrote on 3/23/2014, 4:23 AM
I joined Vegas at version 6. I'll confess, I started with a cracked version, but was so very impressed with its fluidity and elegance that I bought it (thanks to an end-of-life offer from B&H).

With the exception of VP11 which never ran properly on my system, I've upgraded to every version. Each has always introduced something that proved to be very useful to my workflow.

Although VP12 does run quite smoothly, sometimes it inexplicably misbehaves. That explorer bug is my main gripe. But some of the useful plug-in I have were either never updated to 64-bit, or are inferior to previous versions, so I have to run VP10 to ensure my workflow remains unencumbered. However, I find that increasingly I'm relying on VP10 over VP 12, so unless VP13 introduces some major enhancements to workflow, I'll probably not be upgrading this time round.

Mchl496, have you tried to back off the overclocking? For some reason I get weird inconsistent anomalies when I OC my CPU on my EVGA OC board.
Geoff_Wood wrote on 3/24/2014, 4:39 AM
Since CPUs (etc) got so powerful and fast a year or so back, there would seem little point in overclocking, at least as a trade-off against reliability !
