If they're naming it after the year it's released, that makes sense. Their 2014 fiscal year could already be started.

Model year for products rarely correspond to the calendar year of release. Think cars.

I loved my V9 as well until last week. . .

I tried some GoPro video (which I have used before without any problems), and they all imported fine, but at about 20% the normal size. . . (sigh)

V12 he we come this next payday. . . (sigh)

Oh well. . .

sometimes chicken . . . and sometime feathers. . . (wink)

Vegas 2014, didn't think about that. it could be.
But it's so a Microsoft-naming-system :-).

I hope that Sony doesn't follow Microsoft conventions too closely - especially Windows 8 - otherwise the next iteration of Vegas Pro will probably come without a Play button.

They could go the FCX route and sell Vegas 13 for $200 and charge an extra $100 for a play button and another $100 for a preview window. ;)

I'm not sure I follow your reference. What extras did FCP X charge for? I'm not aware of any.

I have an idea for SCS. I don't know why I didn't think of it years ago.

Rather than pleading year after year after year for SCS and Sonic Foundry before that to update the below amateurish Vegas 2.0 credit roll generator how about creating a CREDIT ROLL PLUGIN.

They have a Noise Reduction plugin that works very well and it is very professional so how about a credit roll plugin to make that professional as well. Then we don't have to beg for rudimentary but useful changes to the main software and receive useless bells and whistles instead.

Good idea no?

VASST could make something go for us? I, for one, would buy it.

I created my own credit roll with NB Titler Pro 1, which is stable on system. My crummy little homemade credit roll is heaps better than the one included in Vegas. Sorry SCS but it's true.

I use a program called Videotagger. You source your credits in an Excel xls file and the program lets you set the speed , fonts and spacing.

Here's an example of one I did recently: http://vimeo.com/66188666

It also lets you link a JPEG image into the credits roll, but that feature is a bit buggy now as it adds several minutes of blank video after the credits. Easily trimmed by Vegas.

I've used Adobe Photoshop Elements and combined scanned pictures of theater programs to create a long and narrow graphic that scrolls vertically along the time-line.

Since I scanned the theater program, I did not have to worry about mistyping a person's name and any graphics would scroll along with the credits. Including graphics I add to it.

It is real easy to match to whatever music I use.

Important thing is to set the properties correctly on the long graphic.

One can mix it with whatever changing background one wants if they want to get real fancy with it.

One is simply vertically panning a long graphic that is sized to meet the needs of the video.

Much easier to do than try to explain it.

Using multiple tracks, one can have multiple fonts, multiple graphics, multiple videos and even some animated gif files all scrolling along.

Still would be nice to have a plugin that would ease the process and automate all of this so one can create a super credit roll with minimum effort.

It does appear that Sony has been on a yearly release schedule recently.

Vegas Pro 10 - Oct 2010
Vegas Pro 11 - Sep 2011
Vegas Pro 12 - Nov 2012

However that doesn't mean they have to stick to that schedule. They did just release a new version of Sound Forge so they may have pulled some programmers off for that release, and delayed Vegas Pro slightly.

A sign of a pending release is the dumping of old stock at discounted prices. Didn't SCS just have a sale......
