This doesn't help the folks on the board who don't have the option of going back in time, but I'm on V9, too, and it's super sweet. Not a single glitch, has Elastique, and works with AVCHD should I ever need to go there. Oh, and my occasional "black frame" issue in V7? Has never shown up in 9.
CyberLink was not afraid to name its current version of PowerDVD as 13. It does not play my 1080i AVCHD smoothly as in versions 10 and 11, but version 12 is just as bad, so we can't blame the version number. (BTW, none of these versions will play 1080p smoothly on my system. I have only found three players so far that will.)
VMP, except for my newest laptop, which i don't often use for video editing, i don't own a GPU, never had a need for it, or even a desire, ever. That, and all the reported problems folks have had of it not working, working slower than a CPU-only render, or producing unacceptable results, i can't really say i have much interest in trying it. This also means i can't miss it because i've never had it.
If i want to speed up my previews and renders, i can upgrade my motherboard, CPU, and memory to at least 6 times my current speed for less money than most of the GPU video card prices i've seen folks bandy about here.
"the number four to them is unlucky (shi - same word as death)"
I thought it was just Chinese.
and, yeah, just realize:
Sony A37, A57, A58, A65, A77, A99... and no A47.
So does NEX3, NEX5, NEX6, NEX7... no NEX4.
I'm sure there will be no NEX-VG40 after NEX-VG30...
PMW-F3, F5... no F4!
Wondering what the lucky number of Japanese (and West cultures too) ? :)
For Chinese it is '8'...

They could always just make it a symbol and call it "The NLE formerly known as Vegas."
Mind you, Vegas is finally getting enough wide traction and respect that now would NOT be the time to change name.
You just need cars crashing through glass, explosions and an X in the name...Like Vegas Pro XIII
Or Vegas 13. Triskaidekaphobes will never buy it though.
I must say that some of the render codecs really did render faster on my system with the GPU acceleration enabled in VP12 trial version compared to V9.
Also previewing FX heavy events were greatly improved.
So here is the challenge to SCS- allow some of us to be Beta program testers of a product aka VegasPro_Beta13...and after a thorough review and over-ruling the marketing department's desire to put out an early release date......aha!
Offer a naming contest to rename the new stable and viable NLE release by the user community that wants to buy it with some moniker that stipulates that it will not have the number '13" in any way, shape or form.?
But a naming contest? I don't think so.
I don't think SCS want to give the public an impression that they are unsure what to call their software, or blow up the superstition number thing out of proportion.
It's going to be an in-house decision.
And something tells me that they are going to stick to number 13.

It will be the marketing joke of a lifetime if SCS releases unlucky Version 13 after the "badluck" releases of everything since Version 9.0e and I dare add the release of an incompetently coded 12. If they choose to do it, I guarantee you it will be the marketing professor's case topic in every college level class there is. Now does SCS really want that kind of notoriety?
In numerology 13 is also equal to the number 4, i.e. 1 + 3 = 4.
The number 13 is supposed to represent karmic dept, not a good thing.
Perhaps this is why certain cultures also admonish the number 4.
Perhaps they could call it Vegas Ultra, as in Ultraman.
Let's get real here for a second...any person capable of defeating both Godzilla & Mothra could surely be capable of killing off any surviving bugs...
