Vegas Pro 13 is rendering audio but not video

Hello! I am new to Vegas Pro (installed it just yesterday) and have been watching tutorials to learn how to edit. In the preview window I can see my video track playing properly. But when I render, it gives me only one square, still image (like a CD cover) and only renders the audio--no video at all.

I've tried MP4 and WMV formats so far, and checked that the video isn't muted. (It's not.)

I would really appreciate some advice. :)

What do you mean by "one square" ? Can you give us a screen shot?

And a screen shot of the render settings (the render window)

Which render template are you using to render .mp4? Mainconcept AVC or Sony AVC?

It's possible your rendering a "loop region" of audio only ..

Thanks for the replies!

I do not have access to the computer at the moment (I'm in a different location) but I will this evening for screenshots etc. When I said "like a CD cover" I was thinking about how when you play a music MP3 from a band, Windows Media Player will display the cover art of the associated CD. Only in this case it was one still frame from my video--but cropped to be square rather than rectangular like the actual video was.

Significant update: I downloaded VLC Media Player and also tried uploading a small clip to Youtube. Both VLC and Youtube DID play the clips as video, although Windows Media Player continues only to recognize the audio. So I am thinking the problem is actually with Windows Media Player rather than the output files.

It's strange, though, because WMP has always played the videos I rendered in my old version of Adobe Premiere Pro. I will look through its settings when I get home and see if any of the settings have been changed.
