roland-graf wrote on 10/11/2016, 5:22 AM

problem: vegas pro 14 buil 161: using a second monitor to show a clip fullscreen: result: black screen (second monitor).

normal quitting the programm not possible (shift-alt-ctrl thing needed)!

uninstalled, reinstalled, updated quicktime, updated to MS .NET framework 4.6.2.: nothing helped.

i use a GTX 960, Win 7, Intel i7-6700K 4.00 GHz 16GB ram, 64 bit.

IMPORTANT: SONY MOVIE PLATINUM 13.0 (64 BIT) WORKS PEFECTLY! no problems with viewing on a second monitor.

many thx for your help :-)

Does the preview window on your primary monitor work normally when the secondary monitor is black? Does it happen on small projects as well as large ones?

.NET framework 4.6.2 is the most common recent fix for this ( https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/where-has-my-external-preview-monitor-gone--103626/ and https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/fullscreen-display--103699/ ). Maybe try reinstalling your video card driver, or changing the setting in Options > Preferences > Preview Device > Optimize GPU Display Performance.

"yes" the primary monitor does work, but the whole process gets very slow (stuttering video) and its not possible to shut down the program.

thx nick, i found the 4.6.2. fix, but didnt work. i will try out your advices.

no: changing the settings doesnt solve the problem.

and yes: i used the version-checker: 4.6.2. is installed!

and again: Movie Studio Platinum 13.0. has no problem to manage my second (even third) monitor.

Was it ever working correcting in Vegas Pro 14? Maybe try resetting Vegas by holding CTRL+SHIFT while double-clicking on the program's icon to launch it ( https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2744/~/reset-software-to-default-settings ) but note that you will lose all your settings if you do that.

Submit a support request at https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/vegas/form , including as much detailed information about the problem as you can.

thx, but resetting vegas did not help. will submit a request.

roland-graf wrote on 10/11/2016, 6:52 AM

btw: i just added some technical informations about my system in my profil :-) perhaps this helps too ...

(i did send a support request right now)

roland-graf wrote on 10/13/2016, 8:57 AM

since i got no feedback from my supportrequest yet, i continued to fiddle around. and i found out the follwing:

1.) i use 3 monitors:
MAIN: DELL U3415W (3440x1440@60Hz)
LEFT: S27C650 (1920x1080@60Hz)
RIGHT: CE210W (1680x1050@60Hz)

WHAT WORKS: if i setup (prefer, preview device) the MAIN monitor to show the fullscreen view - that works. so my workaround is: oben vegas 14 on mainscreen, move vegas screen to the left monitor, click on preview fullscreen icon, thadaa! the fullscreen will be shown on the mainmonitor. no crash, no stuttering, etc.

WHAT DOESNT WORK: as soon i select one of the other (secondary monitors) vegas freezes, i cant quit anymore, screens remain black (as explained above).

SO: maybe Vegas has a major problem to manage dual monitors with different resolutions.

AGAIN: same constellation: sony movie studio platinum 13 has NO PROBLEM to manage this configuration.

@roland-graf Did this get resolved? Im also experiencing this issue with v15.

tatumdale wrote on 12/31/2017, 6:03 AM

There are more variables than software settings. I’ve followed all online help and it’s not worked. how are you monitors connected?

roland-graf wrote on 12/31/2017, 6:07 AM

thx for your feedbacks! i stoped working with VEGAS, because the issues couldnt be resovled, even after more then a year! good luck vegas users ;-)

Yes. Similar to me. Maybe an issue with Vegas and ambidextrous drivers? Either way, I feel a refund is in order unless their support can help... thanks anyway
