Vegas Pro 15.0 and Movie Studio 15.0 both crash at launch

Quentin-MD wrote on 12/31/2018, 3:19 PM

Hello all,

I recently purchased the "Humble Software Bundle: VEGAS Pro Even More Creative Freedom!".

This bundle includes the following softwares :
-Vegas Pro 15.0
-Movie Studio 15.0

Upon installation and registration, I am not able to launch any of these 2 products AT ALL. And am therefore unable to use them.

The software crashes at the following steps of the opening screen/process (roughly translated from French) : "initialization of video rendering with accelerated GPU"

I sent the crash logs to Magix but have not been getting any reply as of yet.

Try again after you disabled first the Nvidia GPU in Windows Device Explorer/Display Adapters and if that not helps the Intell Graphics or maybe both and try to figure out if one of those options make any difference.
Vegas can be loaded without both but has not GPU accelleration and some rendertemplates.

Hello guys !

Thanks for the swift replies !

I tried the following for now and will try on other solutions later on :

-Right Click on Shortcut --> Execute with nVidia GFX only => does not work

-Right Click on Shortcut --> Execute with Integrated GFX only => does not work

-Right Click on Shortcut --> Change Default Graphics => nothing happens (it does not open any kind of window).

I tried those solutions on both Movie Studio 15.0 and Vegas Pro 15.0 and the results are the same for both.

@NickHope thanks for the link to your page. One question :

-Install the Latest Update --> do you confirm the updates are free ? Meaning I can update from Vegas Pro 15.0 to 16.0 and so on ?

Otherwise, given the log I posted earlier on, I believe the issue may be related to this thread : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/program-won-t-even-start-just-crashes--105612/

I'll try deleting the related .dll files later on and see if this solves the problem.

Keeping everyone posted !

A change from VEGAS Pro 15.0 to 16.0 is an upgrade and is not free (unless you subscribe to VEGAS Pro 365). A change from, for example, VEGAS Pro 15.0 Update 7 (build 387) to VEGAS Pro 15.0 Update 8 (build 416) is an update and is free.

This was not my proposal.
Disable is something else than choosing another one to start a particular program with. In the Device Explorer you have to disable or anable.

Hello all ! My issue is finally solved.

Since the problem mentioned in the log was linked to Intel Graphics, I wanted to make sure I had the latest version of the related drivers installed.

Which was not the case.

Upon installing version Intel Graphics Drivers 24.20.100.6291, Movie Studio 15.0 and Vegas Pro 15.0 opened without any problem.

I guess any drivers at this version or above should prevent any opening crash.

Thanks again for the help !
