Vegas 15 does not require QuickTime. It uses its own decoder. You need QT only for earlier versions of Vegas. MOV is just a container. It can house all sorts of formats. Best to post a MediaInfo screenshot.

A MOV file can be several types of file, Pro Res, DnxHD, H264, AVI, DV,etc. You have to be specific before we can help.

Actually not entirely true. While it can deal natively with ProRes and AVC .MOV files, there are still other MOV flavours like M-JPEG and Animation that require Quicktime.
I am having issues with .mov files now for some reason. I went and uninstalled Quicktime and it wouldn't even recognize my files. At least with QT installed it gives me my audio but no video.
