I am having problems opening QuickTime and MXF files regardless of the codecs used however Adobe Premiere have no problems at all with such files! I remember I was able to open such files in Vegas Pro 13 and 15!
Any idea what's going on?
Post a sample file(s) that doesn't work for you. QuickTime and MXF files work fine here - but not all types, so codec and camera source are important bits of information.
By the way... In my humble view as a native English speaker, the use of exclamation marks (!) and capital letters is a little like spicy pepper: a little goes a long way. :)
The codecs which Vegas Pro 16 supports for MXF wrapping are XDCAM and X-AVC, for Quicktime wrapping it's H.264, ProRes and (I think) uncompressed without the need of installing Quicktime.

Hi guys .. the clips size are ranging between 2-14GB which are not easy to share!
Those are Arri Log C files coming straight out of a Mini Alexa and the file specs are: 2K 2048 x 1152 4:4:4 (ProRes 4444 XQ) recorded at 200 fps.

Regarding the off-topic note, I kind of agree about capital letters especially when not used properly. But as for the exclamation mark, it is supposed to be used in a exclamatory sentence to express and emphasis emotion, as long as not overused. 😉

Thanks, Eagle Six. I checked the script and it sounds interesting, however, I am not sure how it is supposed to help in opening QuickTime and MXF files in Vegas Pro!
Import assist will take in some formats Vegas doesn't read natively and convert them so that it can be read using high quality intermediate codecs.
As was stated the 'Quicktime' <.mov> extension is only a wrapper, same with the 'Media Exchange Extension' <.mxf>. You need the specific codecs for those Arriflex files. A quick perusal of the web, indicates others having the same problem on other NLEs as well. Sorry, I do not have a link those codecs.

Well, DaVinci Resolve is definitely not one of those NLE since I solved my problem with it. I basically opened all files that Vegas Pro can not read, and rendered those files out to one one of the lossless formats that Vegas Pro is happy with.
I wish Vegas Pro 17 will support those files like DaVinci Resolve do.
I also forgot to mention that after installing QuickTime Player, Vegas Pro was able to read all MOV files. Thanks for the tip, Marco.
