Vegas Pro 17 Video FX not showing up in Vegas Pro 18

Groovus wrote on 8/8/2020, 2:36 PM

I went to instantiate a few video fx plugins in Vegas Pro 18 and found that there were a lot of them missing. I opened up my previous version, Vegas Pro 17, and there they were! Why aren't they showing up in Vegas Pro 18? Is there a scan feature in Vegas Pro 18 that can scan the directories like a vst scanner does. I guess I'll have to keep Vegas Pro 17 on my computer until I can get this issues resolved. Any thoughts? Help!

You didn't tell us which ones which is an important information.

If them are 3rd party plug-ins they may either not (yet) be compatible with VP18 or not licensed for VP18.

Thanks for responding, Marco. I have some Boris FX, Vegasaur Stuff, Red Giant Looks and some New Blue FX not showing. Maybe I can take a screen shot of the FX in Vegas Pro 17 and show you what they are and what they aren't in Vegas Pro 18. Can you think of any possible reasons why they would not appear? I didn't think that the compatibility of the effects from Vegas 17 to 18 would be that much different. Thanks for any help!

 I have a whole slew of them here in Vegas 17, but in Vegas 18, only some New Blue:

You might try clearing the Vegas cache to force it to rescan.

OK, great idea. I don't know how to do that, but I guess I'll investigate. Thanks!

@Groovus

    • Make sure your cache folder is clean by deleting everything in  C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\<version #> (delete everything with VP closed and use task manager to make sure it's really gone from memory). The initial startup will be kind of long after this cleaning but once it's up, restart VP again. Use task manager to make sure VP is completely gone from memory before starting it back up.
