Vegas Pro 17 needs Win 10. Whilst it will work on Win 7 not everything will perform correctly.

I, too, had that problem after I updated from build 321 with Win7. Evidently Magix no longer supports that OS past the 2nd update. I had very specific reasons for not going to Win10 due to other existing business software. I have finally resolved all of those issues and also found out that you can upgrade to Win10 still for free--and it works!! Search MS site for the "create Windows 10 installation media" and download it, launch it and be prepared to wait while it does its magic. It will reboot several times and depending on your computer and amount of data it may take several hours (it took mine about 4 hrs. 15 minutes). After it first starts the upgrade process, it will require you answer a couple of prompts but after that you can go to bed or whatever. I did this on Feb. 22 so I know it is still available.
