Vegas Pro 19 and Vegas Stream

Steven-Pollard wrote on 9/2/2021, 8:02 AM

I imported the Vegas stream file into Vegas Pro 19 and the Vegas Stream Orbit Collection movie clips had an orange need "Need Activation" in the preview window. I realized the watermark was trigger by the NewBlue Titler Pro 7 - OpenFX plugin located in the Media Generators library; the plugin was installed from the Titler Pro 7 Trial. I uninstalled Titler Pro 7 Trial and the NewBlue Titler Pro 7 - OpenFX plugin uninstalled also during the process. Now my Vegas stream clips don't show at all on the Vegas Pro 19 timeline. Does the Vegas Stream import script suppose to work without the NewBlue Titler Pro 7 - OpenFXplugin?

Part of the power of Vegas Stream comes from Titler Pro 7. Titler Pro 7 is needed for Vegas Stream to work. So, yes you do need a version of Titler Pro 7 installed - I thought installing stream installed a version of Titler Pro 7.

Steven-Pollard wrote on 9/3/2021, 11:16 AM

So I guess Titler Pro 7 is needed for the Vegas Stream import to Vegas 19 script to work. The latest Vegas 19 365 marketing material and help manual are not very clear that you need Titler Pro 7 installed. I need to sink another $400 to get this feature.. wow!

You need Vegas Pro activated for Vegas Stream to work, now you need Titler Pro 7 for this promo to work...

When I use the script to pull in an .nblvpst file, all of the graphics tracks, i.e., "Lower Third", "Bullet List", etc. are blank (I don't have Titler Pro 7 in Media Generators), but there is a muted track at the bottom called "Program" which has the video take of all of the transitions that I made while recording. I guess this is what they mean when they say that I can "cut out any errors or trim down the length of the video"...but I can't edit edit the individual NB graphics in VP either.

jetdv wrote on 9/4/2021, 9:36 AM

The import script will import all of the individual cameras to separate tracks. It will also pull in the full recording at the bottom. You can do a full edit of the recording based on the individual camera tracks.

If you made titles throughout the recording, those will be imported as Titler Pro titles. Those also can be editing and adjusted as needed. For example, suppose you pulled in the incorrect name for someone, that could be corrected and changed in post. Yes - Titler Pro is used for that purpose.

I actually use Stream for the tutorials on my website. They are very simple in that I'm just recording two camera and one audio source. I then import using the script and do a full edit of the two camera capture (no Titler Pro needed as I did not use any titles in the capture).

Here's an example:

@Steven-Pollard, @Photo_G, There is a bundled version of Titler Pro 7 that comes with VEGAS Pro 19 that you can use if you do not have the retail version. That will let you load your streams properly into VEGAS. It can be downloaded here:

http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Magix/NewBlueTitlerPro7VegasPro19-210730.exe

I believe the serial number should come from Magix.

If you do not have Titler Pro 7 installed, that would explain why those tracks are blank.

Photo_G wrote on 9/10/2021, 9:16 AM

@jetdv Thanks! I have installed this and it's shows as a 14 day trial. I also looked in my Magix account, but I don't see a serial number for it. Where did you locate your serial?

As I said, I believe the serial number should come from Magix. Please check all the information from Magix and see if you can locate the serial number. If you can't, contact support @ newblueinc.com and ask for help.

Thanks again! I do see a license in my NewBlue account for this, but the Activation Manager says that it expires in 14 days...so I have reached out to their support for help. I really appreciate your patience and help with this! I didn't know that I had a license before your reply!!

jetdv wrote on 9/11/2021, 8:29 AM

@Photo_G, I'm sure it will be next week before you get an answer. Please also double-check all the information from Magix to see if you can locate the serial number sent from them. Search for "NBPVS" - that's how the serial number should start.

Photo_G wrote on 9/11/2021, 10:41 AM

Good call. I don't see that string in my email. It seems to be something that Magix sent to NewBlue, along with the license to use their stuff in Stream...of course, I could be wrong about that. I any case, I sure hope it's not just a trial license. Nothing shows up under trials in my NewBlue account.

Photo_G wrote on 9/13/2021, 6:25 PM

@jetdv, NewBlue replied back and said "First, I just want to confirm that you have purchased the Movie Expansion Pack Vegas Pro 19 bundle."   I can't find any reference to this expansion pack anywhere.  Had you purchased this bundle?

Also, I found a license with the NBPVS prefix in my NewBlue account, but it says it's for Vegas Stream.

@jetdv and @Photo_G I am following this thread to see if Stream is worth the additional cost of Vegas Pro over Edit.

@Photo_G, please try installing this with Stream: http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Magix/NewBlueLive2Post-210804.exe

Photo_G wrote on 9/14/2021, 1:05 PM

@jetdv Thanks again! At the end of the installation cycle it said "No earlier version of Titler 3.0 found" and, unfortunately there was no change in behavior. I'm going to uninstall all of the NewBlue Titler components from my system now. VP 19 Update 1 seems to be working well on my system and I really don't want to break something here. I appreciate all of the help!

jetdv wrote on 9/14/2021, 3:29 PM

@Photo_G, that message should be OK. You might try a clean install...

Reboot your computer

Uninstall all versions of Titler currently on your system

Go to C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX and make sure Titler is removed

Go to C:\Program Files\NewBlue and make sure the folder NewBlue Titler Pro 2.0 for Windows is removed

Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlue and make sure the folder TitlerPro.ofx.bundle is removed

Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlueFX and make sure the folder TitlerPro2.ofx.bundle is removed

Re-install NewBlueLive2Post-210804.exe

It also would be wise to clear the VEGAS cache

Close Vegas, Delete plugin_manager_cache.bin and svfx_plugin_cache.bin from C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\{version#}, then retest.

Keep in mind that the "App Data" folder is probably a "Hidden" folder so you will need to have Windows "Show Hidden Folders".

That should let the Stream titles import.

@jetdv, now I feel really bad for wasting your time. NB finally replied and said that it's "only able to be edited in Stream, not in Post Production.", regardless of what it shows on the web site at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-stream/.

This is extremely frustrating, given that Vegas Stream is actually a NewBlue product (it's a re-branded version of VividCast: https://newbluefx.com/products/vividcast-streaming-software/).

I really was not trying to run you in circles, and I'm sincerely appreciative of your kind and patient support! This is an awesome community that deserves respect and appreciation, for sure.

Also, they explained that the Movie Expansion Pack is offered by VegasCreative, as an add-on in your cart when you purchase Vegas Pro 19. That explains why I couldn't find any reference to it anywhere - it's oddly only available at the point of initial sale.

@jetdv I ran through the steps that you outline above, however there are no C:\Program Files\NewBlue folders on my PC, only C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX. Is there another installation file that I need to use for NewBlue Titler Pro 2.0 for Windows? The installation always aborts at "No earlier version of Titler 3.0 found".

jetdv wrote on 9/15/2021, 9:15 AM

@Photo_G, I'm still pursuing this as well. My understanding at this point is that the "Live to Post" installer I listed above is supposed to install a version of Titler Pro that will let the titles be imported into VEGAS (i.e. wouldn't have the designer and would be very limited but would show the titles added).

Titler Pro 3 installed some "common" files in a different place than the newer versions do. So the newer version check to see if Titler Pro 3 had been installed in the past and will copy those common files to the new location. So the message "No earlier version of Titler 3.0 found" simply means that those common files would not be copied since they don't exist. It does not mean that the install did not finish correctly.

So if I'm understanding the process correctly:

1. Install Vegas Stream and activate it with the serial number provided to you by Magix

2. Also install "Live to Post" and no activation will be required there

Then the import from stream should work correctly and show titles.

Photo_G wrote on 9/15/2021, 9:34 AM

@jetdv, The "Live to Post" installation runs through and extracts a bunch of files to my AppData/Temp directory, including an OFX bundle called TitlerPro2.ofx.bundle, but it stops at "Titler 3.0 is not found" and none of the files are actually installed (there's no error message either).

Interestingly, NB linked me to the same file and then, when it didn't work, told me "we do not market or advertise Live to Post editing on any of our products". If I read you right though, that's technically correct, since the title files will only show up as non-editable placeholders.

But, this also makes me wonder why they advertise VP with the ability to "Import your project to cut, add, edit - videos, images, texts, add animations and play with effects, filters or do color correction" at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-stream/features/#productMenu

jetdv wrote on 9/15/2021, 9:43 AM

@Photo_G, You can edit the videos the same as you would anything else in VEGAS. If you did a multi-cam shoot and changed cameras, you can change when the cameras changed as an example. If a name on a title was incorrect, you should be able to edit the name in the Titler interface (like Titler Pro Express works - you can only select a template and change certain fields like text, maybe a color - this version you probably can't select a template but the text should still be changeable). Titles could be moved (anything could be moved...) So, yes, even though Titler is limited, you would be able to do some editing even there. Everything else is in VEGAS - adding effects, animations, color correction, etc...
