@jetdv Ah, very cool! That's all I expected, so I hope I can get this working. I sent my recent findings to the NB case too, so we shall see.

I also ran my go-to registry cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled, in case there were leftover entries from the trial installation...but no joy.

So, does Vegas Stream have full functionality with Vegas Post 19 or not? I can't activate Vegas Stream without a serial number. No serial number was provided with the email containing the other software in the bundle?

RogerS wrote on 9/21/2021, 8:03 AM

With Post 365, yes.

fr0sty wrote on 9/21/2021, 8:24 AM

It should come with the perpetual version as well. Reach out to Magix about it, or log into your magix account and see if you have a serial number for Stream anywhere in your "my products" page.

Then Why is this Vegas Stream advertised in the Vegas Pro Post 19 Feature List? What is it with these people that they can't keep the features that belong to the "365" version from the desktop versions? Are you guys really just crooks disguised as stupid people or what?I give up with you people! I want my money back for the last 15 years. Tis Germany outfit are Morons.

VStream is available for VEGAS Pro and VEGAS Post users, both perpetual and 365. If you are having an issue getting VStream activated, you should contact support. Activation of VEGAS Pro 19 should automatically activate VEGAS Stream as well.

@Steven-Pollard @Reyfox @jetdv I received confirmation from NewBlue support that you can only move/remove assets that are imported to VEGAS Pro from VEGAS Stream, or do whatever else is supported for editing an "event in VEGAS Pro", but you cannot modify the actual NewBlue asset from within Vegas Pro (e.g., titles, lower thirds, etc.) - unless you own some version of NewBlue Titler Pro.

From all of my conversations, this is the best I can gather at this time: This should be the general procedure for installing/using NewBlue Stream:

  1. Install Vegas Pro 19
  2. Install NewBlue Vegas Stream
  3. If you have Titler Pro 7/7 Express, you do not need to do anything further. If you do not have Titler Pro 7/7 Express, install Live2Post: www.newbluefx.com/downloads/windows/beta/NewBlueLive2Post-210202.exe

After importing a Stream into VEGAS:

  1. If you have Titler Pro 7, you can fully make any changes desired to any imported title.
  2. If you have Titler Pro 7 Express, I believe you should be adjust any text to correct a name but am not 100% positive
  3. If you are using Live2Post, the titles will appear but cannot be edited. You can only move them/remove them/whatever is allowed changing the event in VEGAS.
Photo_G wrote on 9/22/2021, 9:00 AM

@jetdv If you own an earlier version of Titler Pro (e.g., v5), will you still be able to edit the imported title?

@jetdv, I've been surfing the tutorials on the NB site, but I don't see a VEGAS Stream (or VividCast) to VEGAS Pro round-trip workflow tutorial anywhere. Is there one out there that you can share? Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by round-trip? Back to Vegas Stream after Vegas Pro? Just do your recording/broadcast with Stream and use the import script in Vegas Pro and the assets will show up on the timeline in the right place. The main issue I had was Stream not saving the files all together so I had to move them and then point Vegas to the moved media.

jetdv wrote on 9/23/2021, 11:12 AM

@Photo_G, I'm not aware of a specific tutorial for this

@RogerS, I've not seen the captures be in an incorrect place. I do know you can specify locations for the "master" recording vs the individual pieces. Maybe those are pointing to two different places? But even then, the correct location should be specified in the file that the "Import" script reads.

Photo_G wrote on 9/23/2021, 11:51 AM

@RogerS Thanks! That part works, but when I try to round-trip back from Vegas Pro to Titler Pro and make an edit, it's not passing that edit back into to Vegas Pro for some reason. I have a case open with NewBlue, so we shall see.

Btw, I had the same file placement issue, until I changed the path in the Vegas Stream project settings, the videos were in a different directory than the saved title assets.

1. NB finally replied and said that it's "only able to be edited in Stream, not in Post Production.", regardless of what it shows on the website at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-stream/.

2. I received confirmation from NewBlue support that you can only move/remove assets that are imported to VEGAS Pro from VEGAS Stream

3. The main issue I had was Stream not saving the files altogether, so I had to move them and then point Vegas to the moved media

4. I don't see a VEGAS Stream (or VividCast) to VEGAS Pro round-trip workflow tutorial anywhere. Is there one out there that you can share?

Here is my take on 1,2, and 3 ... and yes 4 I have a workaround to share

@jetdv NewBlue is 100% correct when they say you can't edit the titles/overlay exported from Vegas Stream into Vegas. This is because exported Vegas Stream files have a naming convention for example: {1ba33908-35be-4a02-a635-306b7f88fc94}210921-183739_0.nbtitle and {1ba33908-35be-4a02-a635-306b7f88fc94}210921-183739_0_FUCHSIA Cubic Main.cache that are something like "cloak links" to the Titler Pro 7's Project Templates program directory files for example: FUCHSIA Cubic Main. In Vegas Pro 19, you can click "to edit" the video generated media (exported from Vegas stream) in Titler Pro 7, but you can't save the changes back the video generated media on the timeline; because, as I stated, Vegas Pro 19 has opened a "cloak link" version and not an actual Titler Pro 7 version. The exported files from Vegas Stream (the cloak links files) place the video-generated media in the right place but contain missing variables and asset information and have layers overlay order all screwed up. So here is the workaround or workflow I'm using.

In Vegas Stream
1. Open Setup
2. Click Graphic
3. Check Graphic Control for Social Pro is set correct
4. Click Hamburger Menu and Select: Modify Graphic Design (Opens NewBlue Title Designer/Titler Pro 7)
5. Click File / Export/ Design with assets...
6. Save Exported File from Vegas Stream ( you now have a file in Titler Pro 7 format)
7. Select this file for Step 8 in Vegas Pro 19

In Vegas Pro 19
1. Run the Import from Vegas Stream Script
2. All video generated media (Vegas Stream Titler media) will be in the correct location on the timeline
3. Click the Media Generate tab and Select the NewBlue Titler Pro 7- OpenFX plug-in
4. Drag and Place the Default NewBlue Titler Pro 7 media onto the timeline below the non-editable Vegas Stream Titler media
(you can create presets to change the length of the Default NewBlue Titler Pro 7 media or delete the default layers)
5. Delete Vegas Stream Titler media and move up the Default NewBlue Titler Pro 7 media to keep the Track Name the same.
6. Select the Default NewBlue Titler Pro 7 media and Click Edit Generated Media
7. Click File / Import / Design...
8. Select the Save Exported File from Vegas Stream Step 6.
Note: Once in Vegas Pro 19, you may have to go back to Step 4 in Vegas Stream to verify the object layer overlay order is correct

VEGAS Stream to VEGAS Pro edits can now be done as advertised.

I like the results I have, but I was not expecting the extra work. I did notice that you can copy and paste the imported Default NewBlue Titler Pro 7 media to other Vegas Pro 19 projects, which is a cool "one and done" post-production.

Photo_G wrote on 9/23/2021, 2:18 PM

@Steven-Pollard Wow, your workaround is awesome...it works great and your post answers several questions that I had about the weird behavior that I've been experiencing. THANK YOU!! But this represents a looong "round-trip", as it would be a LOT of extra work (as you note) on a large project.

There has to be a better way to do this than with cloaked links to the assets. Frankly, I think that the import script should automate this process. It knows which project template files are in use and could be coded to copy, update, and create actual assets for import. I'd take a swing at updating the script, but it's a .dll file, so there's no way to see the actual code.

All I need to do is minor edits to titles and things that were messed up in the live Stream, so I guess I could skip the ones that aren't messed up and use the workaround, but it seems kinda strange to have to do that in Pro versions of both software packages. A professional editor on a tight timeline would not be served well at all by this type of workflow.

On my end it does not. It actually shows up as not activated and asks for a SN. It also says "License Error: Invalid signature" As others have said there was never a separate SN sent to me for Stream.

Photo_G wrote on 9/23/2021, 6:45 PM

That's really odd, since VEGAS Stream should be activated by VEGAS Pro 19 on installation (I've done this two or three times now). Did you install both VP and VS from the installation wizard, the one that also provides the option to download and install the AI components, SoundForge Audio Studio, etc.?

It was activated when Vegas activated. But, as I mentioned, when the New Blue screen cones up it says it is not activated. And yes it was downloaded and installed via the Vegas "wizard" that pops up asking about what you want to download. I did send NewBlue support an email asking about it so I will post when I hear back from them.

NewBlue FX is having a Vividcast webinar in a few days. Since Stream and Vividcast are basically the same, there might be some additional tips/tricks/etc that might be shown during the webinar.

Here is the LINK to register with date and time.
