Vegas Pro 20 takes a long time to start

Ronnie-Python wrote on 6/27/2023, 10:15 AM

I click on the Vegas icon and about 20 to 30 minutes later the program will start up. It will work for about the first five edits and then we'll freeze... the screen will freeze. Does anyone have this problem, and perhaps help me.? I like Vegas, but maybe I should move on to a new program like Adobe Premiere If they can't get Vegas to work properly.

@Ronnie-Python What third party effects packages do you have installed?

Your attention span is a lot longer than anyone that I've ever met. I hit Alt-Tab if Vegas takes longer than three seconds.

@Ronnie-Python 20 to 30 minutes? That's obviously a situation where something is wrong somewhere. Something you have installed does not sit well with Vegas. And if you move to Adobe Premiere, you probably run in similar issues. What are your system specs and workflow?. Also have you tried reinstalling Vegas.

On this laptop, I was having issues opening 18. I'd try to open it, and then kill it because it never came up. 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20 were all opening fine. One day I tried opening 18 and walked away to do something else, when I came back - IT WAS OPEN! So the next time I wanted to test something in 18, I waited and, after several minutes, it opened. I'm not sure what has happened since then and now but now it opens normally (yes, several VEGAS updates for newer versions have been installed since then.)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I reinstalled Vegas 20 for the 4th time and it seems to be working for now. At least it starts right up. Once again thanks everyone for your help.

ok that's good...... Just in case it happens again, make a clear mental note of exactly what you were doing when the issue occurs, so that you can relay back to us in detail what happened, thus giving us the ability to solve exactly where your issue lies.
