"But what do you have to do to make it work right? Make proxies? Transcode to another format?"

I don't think so, because i had hangups even when trimming a simple 1080p jpg on the timeline!
Some internal bug is still exist, hope devs can found and kill it soon!

I read these issues and wonder what am I doing "right" since I don't experience them. I can edit for hours (but I constantly do incremental saves), and everything just works. I'll experiment with the new FX from BorisFX Continuum Complete 2024, add titles using Vegas titling (which does have a slow playback on the timeline), but all in all, with Preview setting Best>half, it's good.

My computer specs are in my signature. I edit mainly 4K 50P from Panasonic cameras. It doesn't matter if the file is MOV (10bit 4:2:2) or MP4 (8bit 4:2:0).

@RogerS, you are right... my reply and the posts above it have nothing to do with the original post.

Reyfox. the real question is: what do we wrong while trimming a jpg? :)

I'm SOOOOO tired of Vegas crashing. Hoping V21 would be different but it's not. Been using Vegas for well over a decade now so can't bear to switch and learn another program. It's the only program on my entire computer that crashes.

LOL. after a decade of using Vegas, i moved to FCP with a heavy heart. But I got so fedup of Crashes there also ( FCP and Mac ) so I came today here in this forum as I am considering to come back to Vegas but looking at your post, seems nothing much has changed :-) . I am sure then that Vegas support team would be as useless as they were till last year.

@chandan-prakash The VP21 trial is free if you want to see if it can handle your troublesome projects. There are many bug fixes over 20 and personally I find it mostly stable for what I do.

Due to the recent issue with New way to handle Vram on graphic card under windows 11 (memory shared with the system one when 4Gb limite is reached), and as i have a 1050ti with only 4Gb Vram, to save a bit of Mb for some of the apps that can't run properly anymore on a 4Gb Vram (before 5th december it was fine) i moved the video output from my Nvidia Card to the motherboard one (intel graphics HD630) and use only the 1050Ti for Calculation and rendering. don't know if it's related, but had to do some edit in vegas, and didn't had any single crash during the whole afternoon session. So maybe my crashes are related to the material i was using in my project (it's the same "project", but some stuff are different, so maybe one video in it make the project to crash, difficult to know (it's teh same big project but separated in separate part as it's way too long). I'll see with time.
