You will need to provide more info, such as what you are doing at the time, media being used and settings from the options tab.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

I sent a support request, but

- doing normal editing. it's crashing totally randomly. actually project has 3 to 4 1080p H264 videofiles, with a 23.976 frame rate. bitrate is around 10 to 12Mbs. on two tracks, there is 2 videos with BorisFx Primmate Studio, but it was crashing before with the vegas chroma key. crashed on an another project, no matter where i edit. just crashed while just synchinc and movied two tracks, not even a cut, just syncinc 2 videos tracks with one audio track.
Crash happens too with intel driver HD 630 instead of Nvidia for the Raw Processing.

Medias : 3x 1080p H264 videos, converted from my blurays of a movie, running at 23.976. audio parts are AAC.
1 custom green screen cropped to make a 2 different video track.
1 Master Flac 24 bits Audio file , output from Cubase 12.

other audio tracks are mutted except when doing sync. Gpu and Cpu stay low in usage. it's really a tiny project but long (10 to 20mn now). but i had crashing on other project.

settings :

Crash :

Do you have a very old version of Quicktime installed?

Have you checked your graphics drivers from the Vegas Help menu?

I'm SOOOOO tired of Vegas crashing. Hoping V21 would be different but it's not. Been using Vegas for well over a decade now so can't bear to switch and learn another program. It's the only program on my entire computer that crashes.

some other people are having same issue in other software from magix. didn't finished to read the thread.

- no old version of quicktime lol ahahah.
- drivers up to date for intel and Nvidia.

pretty sure the issue is on vegas side. maybe related to the fact i keep Vegas Pro 19 on the system, until i'm sure 21 will be ok.

depend of what crash you have, error, etc, what support or help here replied. my issue seems to be different. the service in error seems to be used for update and some other stuff.

One option is to upload your project/some files to see if we have the same problem.

Every release is the same and every time it's the same story. I'm on the same boat, nothing else on my PC crashes. Using a 7950x, a 4090, x264 files recorded from OBS (with recommended settings from this forum) and still I get crashes. The last reasonably stable version of Vegas I used was 18. Vegas 21 even hangs when opening the program. With Vegas 20 I was fobbed off with driver updates (basically the blame was pushed to GPU drivers, which of course updating fixed nothing).

We then go in circles sending all sorts of information to the forum and sending bug reports through the program. Im not a beta tester, I dont want to solve MAGIX problems, Im a paying customer and I expect software to work as advertised. The forums have a lot of apologists who defend MAGIX to hell and back. Sending in files and projects doesnt help, theres something wrong at a very basic level if so many users have issues, but nothing is done about it. Look at other groups / twitter / reddit in regards to vegas 21, the program is a laughing stock.

I would love to have the spare time to learn a different program, but my job relies on quick turnaround for video edits. Using Vegas is the absolute worst part of my overall PC usage.

One thing you could try (seen this done by other users) is to rename Service_rel_u_x64_vc16.exe to Service_rel_u_x64_vc16.bak, see what happens. You can rename it back if it does not help.

read the thread i posted, it seems it's related to some installations issue or a file, someone else tell that the issue is know from magix germany. as it's something related / used in Magix software. several other thread are available on the same error, but on other magix softwares. so not related to Vegas Pro 21 directly but to magix.
I can uninstalling Vegas Pro 19 and see if it's going better.
someone just wrote me that he solved this issue but doesn't remember how (ahah too bad).

i'll not send a 20 Gb project anyway, I"ll wait the answer of the support, or if someone know the error and his solution. if it was reproductible, everybody would get it. I doubt it's related to the project.

@Marty74 I have two suggestions. First, it's advisable to update your signature. It shows that you have a NVIDIA GT640 graphics card, but the images you posted show that you actually have a NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti.
Second, you need to post MediaInfo details for the media you're using. MediaInfo is free software that will give details of the media so that experts on this forum can give you advice.

Thanks, just updated the signature sorry, i'm most of the time offline and rarely come "anywhere" since 6 months.
i'll post the mediainfos but i higly doubt the issue come from here, maybe an issue with vegas pro 19 + vegas post 21, or something related. as said found same error on other magix products, with a "solution given by magix by sending new installer or fixed file".
let me provide the mediainfos in few minutes

suggestion from support is to repair VS C++ microsoft distrubuable (all of them).

just did it and will see if it's better. read somewhere that it was related to an issue with Gpu driver, (driver fault) we'll see.

i'll post result here, in case someone else encounter the same issue.

How the hell can i have a reply from the support ?

I did an upgrade to vegas 21 post/pro and i get a lot of crashs, i opened a ticket, more than one month ago here.

[Ticket#2023082817001546] Vegas Pro 21 crashing all the time error Service_rel_u_x64_vc16.exe and Qt5CoreMx64Qt5.15.1.dll

MAGIX Software GmbH *.* Supportmanager Berliner Str. 13 01067 Dresden - Germany

They requested me some logs file, without reading what i told "that the crash happened without having the vegas error window opening when crashing",

i replied asking an other way to provide the informations asked : no reply.

then by miracle, after 15 days, one day, vegas showed for the first time and only time the vegas crash windows but it was a different error than the one i had before.

so i sent the files requested to the support. and since then, i wait.. no reply... i wrote again, asking "anybody here" ? no reply... that's what i call some awful support...

what must i do ?

I upgraded my system to Vegas 21 from 20 post. I kept getting New Blue Titler 7 crashes. So I figured I would up grade to Vegas 21 post. Then I was gettin video card errors. So I wiped my system clean and installed new sata hard drives and an Nvidia 8 gig video card. I then proceeded to load Vegas 20 post and Vegas 21 Post. I can't do a darn thing now. The minute I open up the program I white screen. I have an Intel 3930 with 32 gigs of memory 8 gig video card and a really awesome system which I use for My music recording business with not one problem. I am sitting dead in the water and have clients who require my assistance. I can't work like this. Thanks all help appreciated. I need a phone number for help. I have to agree with some of the concerns that are being addressed on Vegas's crashing, I love Vegas, have been using it for over 10 years. But it does lock up ( Vegas is not responding) more than it should. I only do family videos so for me I put up with it. If I were a professional I would look elsewhere. I know I will get I am a professional and use Vegas with no problems. I am happy for you. But what do you have to do to make it work right? Make proxies? Transcode to another format?

I just completed a family Christmas movie, while using Vegas hub content along with adding a plain Vegas title the program would freeze when I went to playback, or sometimes when I added the text over a event it would lock up Vegas. When I used a file from my Sony AX 700 ( 4K ) and would add a text event the program would freeze and then not respond. Somtimes just previewing in Vegas it would lock up. I would have to use task manager to end the task. Once in a while Vegas would freeze then turn white on me. Sometimes a error report would be sent to Microsoft, or sometimes Magix would get a crash report. It's also just not the crashing. Video playback can be terribly slow. I just tried a trial of DaVinci resolve and using the same files that Vegas would struggle on, DaVinci would preview at full framerate. And I preview in draft mode in Vegas. I am not looking for help, just stating what happens to me.

My hardware is 13900k, Zotak 4090, 64gb DDR 5 6,000mhz ram. 4- 2tb SSD drives. Gigabyte Aero G z790 MB latest Bios. All hardware updated to latest drivers and firmware. Win 11 updated. All of Vegas settings are set up properly to use my hardware. Using Vegas 21. All of the previous versions of Vegas had the same problems, crashes, slow playback. I will say if it is a Prores file that plays back great in Vegas.

I do not blame the engineer's or Gary for this, they have bosses above them and only can work within the budget alloted to them. I did see Vegasderek say they now have a full staff to rewrite Vegas code? But it is going to take some time to complete. I hope that happens.

I will continue to support and use Vegas, but Magix either should fully get behind Vegas or it will not survive. This younger generation will not put up with constant crashes and will take the time to learn how to use a new editing software program. Older guys like me who value what time is left, do not want to waste it learning a new editing program. Magix better cater to the younger generation, because there older customers like me will eventually not be a customer anymore when life runs its course. Thanks
