Vegas Pro 21 keeps crashing

ericsport wrote on 1/30/2024, 12:25 PM

In the past Vegas Pro 21 had been fairly stable on my travel lattop - gateway i7 with 8gb ram and integrated video card. but ever since I experimented with adding pictures and videos to a composition and also picture in picture, it has crashed continuously! I even re-installed the application but getting the same problem. This is when I am simply adding one video to vegas or editing one single video.

It's like a traumatized patient that hasn't regain it's health yet.

Unfortunately I can't add any more ram to this laptop, should I purchase one with 16gb of ram? the better question is having only 8gb of ram leading to the crashes? an integrated graphics card the issue?

what else could it be?

So again, I am aware of the specs required.

I did have stability with my laptop with only 8gb of ram and integrated graphics. My question is since I attempted to edit picture-in-picture - it has continued to crash now no matter what I do, and this is after re-installing the app. why would it now be unstable? and would 16gigs of ram help?

What is the exact format and source of those videos and picture files you imported when this started happening? And are they still lingering on this laptop?

ericsport wrote on 1/30/2024, 7:45 PM

Hey.

I have been pulling in m2t masters. and yes it's still happening in the laptop, it crashes quickly shortly after dropping in files

"what else could it be?"

set your dyn. ram preview size to zero.
8GB is plenty for "editing one single video"
That's definetly not the problem.

To go below the minimum specification is never a good idea. Because then you may see consequences, that you cannot explain. A PiP Effect seems to be a good example, even if it worked w/o that

So yes, it could help to upgrade to a machine that fullfills the minimum specs - or better: even more for the future.

Hey

@ericsport What generation of i7 processor are you using?

I have an i7 12gen i7-1255u 2.6ghz

also the reset has stabilized it for now. will still run into the issue if I try to use picture-in-picture

update: it is crashing again when I attempt to render after adding image watermark to video.
