Vegas Pro 21 not responding.

GabrielGC wrote on 9/7/2024, 4:42 PM

I have a lot of issues while editing videos in Vegas Pro 21, it does not crash, but takes too much time to do some actions, especially when I've been working a lot in a project (raw files are like over 30-40 hours) whenever I try to drag a track or include new videos it keeps without responding, I have a decent computer and I don't get what could be wrong.

Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060

RAM: 32 GB

Processor: Intel Core i9-12900KF 24 CPUs 3.2 Ghz

Resolution I am working with: 2560 x 1440 (60 FPS)

I had windows 10 but now I am using Windows 11, I experienced the same problems in both cases.

Thanks for your help!

Raw files that are 30-40 hours long would drag down just about any system, especially depending on the resolution and format of the raw files.

Can you share MediaInfo for it? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

So, do you think it would help if I split the work in 2 different vega files and then when I renderized it put them together or it would loose quality?

VEGAS doesn't love variable framerates:

Frame rate mode                          : Variable
Frame rate                               : 59.940 (59940/1000) FPS
Minimum frame rate                       : 19.894 FPS
Maximum frame rate                       : 63.830 FPS
Original frame rate                      : 60.000 FPS

If It were me I'd batch convert it to constant framerate h264 in software like ShutterEncoder.
The footage is also a bit odd- why is it 1440K but BT601 (SD) colors?

If this is a capture perhaps better settings would help for editing.

I will try to convert it, as for the footage I dont know how it works and couldnt see any configuration for it, maybe I will try to change the recording progam I am using. Thank you very much!

For ShutterEncoder try convert to output format h264 and under advanced settings change GOP to your framerate (59.940).

Others here have had good success with OBS and can advise on best settings.
