Vegas Pro 22 Consistent Crashing when Copying Keyframes

MrSmartyPants wrote on 4/3/2025, 6:10 PM

Title and video self-explanatory.

What baffles me is that this started all of a sudden when I was in the middle of editing... and it hasn't stopped since.

Yes, I restarted my PC, re-installed Vegas Pro 22, cleared cache and reset preferences, updated graphic drivers

Problem is with every file of Vegas Pro, new or old.

The fact that this is so random, I doubt anyone will be able to help me but I'm posting this here in-case someone does. I will contact Vegas support too.

SPECIFIC DETAILS:

  • Version 22.0 (Build 239)
  • Windows 11 Pro - Version 24H2
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660
  • GPU Acceleration being ON/OFF makes no change
  • Not much else can be given considering that this is effecting ALL of my Vegas files.

🙋 Also seeing this, very annoying. Haven't seen this behaviour before in VP22 build 239, maybe a recent Windows 11 update... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have not experienced this in build 239, but I am now experiencing this issue after updating to build 248 today.

Hi, how soon is considered? I think it doesn't mean 248 update that was recently, because it didn't fix the issue

johnny-s wrote on 4/23/2025, 6:21 AM

I had same problem when using b239 on my main PC. I didn't post issue because when I checked on my laptop with a much simpler single vid clip then no issue.

I assumed then that it was something to do with the much bigger more complex project on main PC.

I got around the issue on main PC by using Copy event and then selectively pasting crop attributes.

The crash is triggered on close of pan/crop window.

I am also experiencing this issue with b239 and b248. I have reinstalled vegas, cleared temp files, updated gpu drivers, etc. This problem does not happen with V21.

Hoping that the problem will get fixed if enough people complaint about it.

Happening to me too. Man... I just recently got Vegas again. The last version I had was like Sony Vegas 12. I remember all the dumb bugs it had and how angry I used to get. 2 days into using this, and this happens. I can't even copy and paste keyframes without it crashing. I see nothing has changed. Absolutely rediculous.

Reyfox wrote on 4/29/2025, 11:05 AM

Highlighting one issue and saying nothing has changed from VP12 until now is totally ridiculous. I'd get my money back.

We are working on a hot fix to address this issue. We hope to make this available soon. We apologize for the inconvenience of the keyframe copy and paste crash. This crash was caused by a change in the underlying structure of the Windows clipboard, which was pushed out in a recent Windows update.

Thank you! Will the hotfix also be rolled out to previous versions of Vegas Pro (I personally still have a Vegas Pro 14 license...!)? Or will it only be done for Vegas Pro 22?

That is an interesting question. I'm impressed, you and @Jacob-Petersen7556 had a pretty good run with the software for the past 8 to 10 years! Windows 10 was just an infant back then! I think @Reyfox was being facetious. 😃

I assume versions 12 and 14 were built for Windows 10 so that's the risk of running old software on a new operating system. I suspect this Windows update to the clipboard is related to Windows 11.

As for the hotfix, you would be lucky if its compatible with older versions. I suppose the development team would focus on 22 and maybe those versions compatible with Windows 11 but it depends on the legal Agreement we never read when we install the software! 😕

This problem only affects VEGAS Pro 22, so the fix would only apply to that application.

Thank you for the info! A shame... I'm having the same problem with VP14 and a pal of mine had the same troubles with WP15. In my case with a very similar error message!
