VEGAS Pro 22 running on ARM spotted at Computex!

Hey folks! Just thought I'd share something interesting I saw last week while covering Computex for those of us who have been waiting on the next version of VEGAS Pro.

At the Qualcomm suite they were demonstrating the new Snapdragon X Elite laptops - and at the Dell XPS booth we saw a video playing with a demo of VEGAS Pro 22 running a smart mask plugin to isolate a person from the background. The main demonstration was how it was taking advantage of the NPU to perform this AI based task. So not only it was running on ARM, seems like it was fully optimzed for NPU acceleration!

I didn't capture the whole video, but here's part of it. The full demo included a task manager opening and showing the NPU in use. A Qualcomm spokesperson told me that this was an early teaser of the upcoming version 22.

Native support for ARM will be a great deal to work on the new Snapdragon laptops - which promise great battery life. Also explains why this version is taking a lot longer than the previous ones. Very exciting stuff, devs! Keep up the good work!

Do not confuse operating systems with CPUs. Just because Macs used to run on Intel chips in the past did not mean that VEGAS could run on their OS. Same is true with ARM based CPUs.

@MikeS A version for the show, demonstrating AI masking on a single clip, one tested and known to work flawlessly. It may be a version barely functional but is 100% reliable at doing the task required for the show.

Same goes with Resolve and Capcut showing their NPU AI Masking, and Resolve showing Nvidia AI superscale and SDR to HDR conversion, all working great, but give them a different clip they may fail as they are not beta or release versions.
